This morning I am optimistic. This afternoon? We’ll see.
Forty six point seven million dollars, in small donor donations, in less than a day. Meaning no disrespect, if that counts as “humming” to you, you may need to get your hearing checked. That was a ROAR. It’s making the ground shake.
(And, not coincidentally, it’s making staffers on a certain campaign soil their pants.)
Plus the whole old and weak argument is now on him.
Good Morning folks,
I’ve been with my family down by the river since Friday evening. I took a peek at the comment threads now and then, but I was mostly enjoying my brothers and sisters, my nieces and nephews, and my daughter.
I actually did not learn about President Biden’s decision until a few hours after most of you did, and I must admit that I felt good about it. I voted for Biden in Pennsylvania’s primary. I was ready and happy to vote for him come November. But yesterday, after hearing the news from my 84 year old Trump-hating retired engineer republican uncle, a sense of relief and calm washed over my being. I see this as a good thing–a good thing for the country, for democrats, and for Trump-hating Republicans like my mother…and her younger 84 year old brother. I was pleasantly surprised that my whole family (further left progressives like my daughter and my Navy veteran brother and the more moderate democrats like most of my other brothers and sisters) all felt good
I feel good. I feel hopeful. I didn’t feel either of those things for some time.
I know that it was quite emotional and sometimes angry on these comment threads yesterday. I hope everyone feels better today, even if it’s only a little bit better. President Biden did a selfless thing yesterday. I will always be grateful for everything (yesterday and before yesterday) that he has done for us. He has secured his place as one of our greatest presidents.
I am also heartened to see everyone (everyone from the progressive faction of the party to the mainstream democrats) endorse Harris.
For me, it’s full charge ahead. Trump must be defeated, and I believe that Kamala Harris can and will do it.
Double down… VP contender should be a former AG as well…
Running against a criminal… not a bad move
It’s a new day, repubs in disarray, and I walked in through the MM front door, hooray!
I just sent her some $$$.
I feel a new sense of Democratic energy and urgency inserted into this way-too-lengthy presidential election season. In the future, we should take a cue from Brits and shorten the campaigns to six weeks with no private money inserted into the process. Democrats have been given new hope. Let’s get to work. Send the MAGATS into permanent exile. Pull this country back from the abyss of authoritarianism!
Online I just watched a clip of Kentucky Gov. Beshear on Morning Joe. He is going to be the VP candidate in the Harris ticket.
As much as things changed, we still have a President or a fake golfer to choose from. Kamala Harris will do a great job in the White House after 3 1/2 years of day-to-day preparation. The old fart will use AF1 as his wonderful flying golf cart two or three days a week, just like he did before. There is no comparison in competence. Let the punditry play:
Unfortunate choice of words, but otherwise I’m glad to see this headline.
It being on one unique and momentous topic, it sorta wrote itself.
Like, oh say, Roy Cooper?
Is that your hope or did he actually say it?
Well, well, well.
I was able to come in through front door today.
Yesterday local news radio repeatedly framed this as “Republicans in complete unity behind trump”, and “Democrats in turmoil”. The GOP is NOT in complete unity behind trump, many of them plan on spending tens of millions to stop him: Liz Cheney, the Lincoln Project, etc.
