The Gloves Come Off: Biden Takes Aim At GOP Guvs’ Anti-Mask Mandate Crusade | Talking Points Memo

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things.

Biden has directed Education Secretary Miguel Cardona “to take additional steps to protect our children” as Republican governors fight to bar local authorities from requiring students and school employees to wear masks, the President announced yesterday.

“Swinging with the fish?”

What a mixed maroon metaphor.

Here’s the deal.

Wear the fucking mask, voter. Don’t mandate anti-common sense health measures, governor.

That’s the deal.

Anyone else notice that TPM seems a writer or two short?

Did you see that pic of DeSantis with the python…dayam! That was a good one. The Florida press is all over the guy. “Please do your job”, “why is he doing this…does he think it fits his political needs”, “Stop the photo ops and get on with the 1000’s of COVID dead and dying”…all good stuff. But NONE are asking the Florida GOP if this is the face they want. An indifferent, sadistic ego maniac, as their standard bearer. They don’t ask Floridians: “is this what you voted for”.

It is a political gambit being played by DeSantis so you play it as one. You make his position a negative…politically. You don’t beg him to do his job.

Have recently noticed that Tierney Sneed appears regularly in bylines over at CNN, so, yeah.

And a couple hundred former commenters?

She is apparently gone from TPM

Well, frankly, I wouldn’t expect that high-level intellect is a requirement to become a Proud Boy, so this is no real surprise.

TPM was bound to lose a certain number of commenters when it moved to the subscriber-only format. However, there do seem to be fewer articles on which commenting is possible. I hope this is only temporary. I really enjoyed the old format.

Thanks. At first I thought it may have been some freelancing on top, but recently noticed she’s there regularly. This explains it.

Online political sites like TPM (And previously Washington Monthly) seem to serve as ‘training grounds’ for promising young writers. I think that’s a good thing!

There has been a lot of discontent on this new format. It just isn’t conducive to good dialogue. Fewer articles, more live blogs. Have to wonder if the new business model just isn’t working out.

I know when I face a paywall for stuff, I just avoid going there for any future information.

But at the same time, Tierney was well-liked and respected here. Might have been nice to know she was leaving.

She would be a huge loss.
