A little wooden cane to the back of the head on the floor…
FWIW, there’s a non-trivial chance moscow mitch doesn’t serve out his term. But he’s not on the judiciary committee. OTOH, chuckie grass is, and he’ll be 90 in september.

Exactly. They don’t have a majority, they’ve got 49 plus two, one of who is a complete nutjob, the other does vote for judges but won’t mess with “comity”. Schumer’s got no way to fix this.
Hence my point about the 52
You are assuming manchinema sit out, as opposed to voting against.
Actually, I’m assuming Manchin would support a rule change that allows committee members to be seated mid-term. Sinema is the one caucusing with the GOP
N even then, he needs nine more senators to get the job.
Which he isn’t likely getting in an election year and with Trump dogging McConnell.
Sinema is the one caucusing with the GOP
She’s still a D.
“America is facing a historic economic crisis brought on by an abject failure to address our exploding national debt, chronic inflation, a looming recession, and the more immediate need to raise the debt ceiling,” Manchin said in a statement Thursday. "Our elected leaders must stop with the political games, work together and negotiate a compromise. Instead, it has been more than 78 days since President Biden last met with Speaker McCarthy. This signals a deficiency of leadership, and it must change.
This—although who knows if Sinema and Manchin would go along with it. If Manchin did, would Harris be able to cast a tie-breaking vote? Or would she not be able to, since it would be a rules/procedure vote instead of a legislative one?
Maybe Biden could propose defunding Elon Musk’s subsidies…
Your faith in precedent is precious.
Hey Joe M, gfy.
That’s not the case, and it’s no longer funny.
And there are other fish to be fried.
"The federal district judge who first suspended the FDA’s approval of the so-called abortion pill mifepristone failed to disclose during his Senate confirmation process two interviews on Christian talk radio where he discussed social issues such as...
I am having near fatal deja vu right now. I would like to wind this back all the way to when Obama tried to nominate Garland and all of the shit since - McConnell’s refusal to consider, Trump’s win, McConnell packing positions he would not allow Obama to fill as fast as he can, RBG’s death, and now - Feinstein’s rapid but not unexpected deterioration. Words like precedent and norms taste like ashes in our mouths.
My first thought as well. Given what’s at stake here, there’s precedent.
I know this is also OT, but I didn’t know the strategist was Cleta Mitchell. Good grief.
"A top Republican legal strategist told a roomful of GOP donors over the weekend that conservatives must band together to limit voting on college campuses, same-day voter registration and automatic mailing of ballots to registered voters," the...
Wonder how many other tidbits Kacsmaryk hit from the Senate. My guess is that there is more.
automatic mailing of ballots to registered voters
One way to get rid of all mail-in voting is to prohibit the mailing of ballots. I love our system in WA state. It takes a day or two longer to count ballots but that’s fine with me.
Manchin said in a statement Thursday.
Manchin is running for re-election in an R+20 state. Get used to this sort of rhetoric and ignore it, because he’s gonna being saying shit like that right up until election day november 2024.
