It is so simple for these folks: God’s religion is power, absolute power, dominion over man and nature. Trump’s Religion is Roman Imperial power with the Emperor as a God. A divided heavenly parlament with the the Emperor as a God among many others. Trump’s explicit A.I. Religious, cartoon, political pornography shows this perspective in all its decadent, demented glory.
The Founding Fathers understood that the proto-nation was composed of adversarial religions, most notably New England Puritans and Church of England Virginia planters. Which would reenact the English Civil War, if given a chance. Others included Quakers, Baptistes, Presbyterians, Methodists, Deists and assorted Free Thinkers and Scientific Rationalists, maybe even some Catholics. Thus, a rational government, with religion separated from government, Occam razored out of government like Deist Jefferson’s Bible.
Let’s all agree to disagree, the alternative is an eternal power struggle, like the Manichean Old Testament.

In case anyone is interested, this was one of the reasons The Founders created a separation of church and state. This bullshit infighting over interpretations of fucking fairy tales was the catalyst for a millennium of slaughter and political instability across Europe, not to mention the staggering waste of fighting the fucking Crusades. For the generation who fought the American Revolution, the slaughter and the horror of those centuries were recent history, as near to them in time as the sinking of the Titanic is to us. They knew, in far more depth than we ever could, how such stupidity could lay waste to entire countries. And yet, here we fucking are with these dipshit religious fanatics inventing their own bullshit as they go along and expecting us to just “respect” their fucking beliefs. We are no more obligated to respect the mentally ill delusions of religious fanatics than we are to celebrate pedophiles and yet here we are - god, pedophiles and guns have created a perfect storm that needs to be wiped off the face of the earth if we are to survive as a species.
