The Chaos Is The Point: Get Ready For Legal Hell After The Midterms - TPM – Talking Points Memo

One would think people who are causing all this chaos with no basis should lose their license to practice.

All sorts of legal hell on the horizon. Whining about elections is sure to come even where the goobers win I suspect Then a nice big fat indictment for “The Donald” to chew on as he rots in a jail waiting trial (That’s my hope). And I expect violence over it all.

Won’t happen thanks to Boris Manchin and Natasha Sinema.

After Republican states secede and no longer serve as roadblocks to progress?

I suggest we amend the constitution too before readmitting them after they find that they can’t afford to be their own country because blue states always covered the bills.

Ah, bit the Lawd will provide.

Let them sing “Gawd Will Take Care Of You” as they sink into 3rd world status.

As a bonus for me and, seemingly, most all others here, it may come with a gag order.
Since it’s unlikely to start with one, I’m leaning into my faith that Donnie will work overtime to have one quickly instituted.

I have enjoyed looking at birds for decades. Seeking to see them has drawn me from Australia to Iran (the long way around) and as far south from my home in Tucson to Panama. As I said your image is way cool.

GQP projection, per usual.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson suggested to his viewers last week that a victory for the Democrats in Pennsylvania could only be illegitimate.

“They can even run mentally defective candidates who can barely speak, and not only expect them to win, but expect you to accept the outcome no matter how transparently absurd it is,” Carlson said.
… … … … …
For a second there I thought Tucker was blabbering about Herschel Walker.

I cannot rate all the off-year elections…but this just might be in the top three. I also believe that most of us feel hamstrung by the disconnect between those who have the ability to vote the GOP out and their sense of urgency.

Given their backgrounds of not having lived in a non-Democratic nation, that is understandable.

But that does not remove from us the obligation to spur them to action in any way possible.

If you look at Putin as a man who lost to capitalism and decided to become capitalistic in order to destroy capitalism, then he’d be the richest man in the world today and he would have - just - bought - his - way - in.

Worse, all he had to do in was over-inflate the mechanisms that the Right, in both the UK and US, have been using to remain a minority in power - in the US blaming everything on immigrants, and in the UK blaming everything on the EU.

It took hardly any money either. The GOP threw their arms open to the Russians. The Conservatives just made the guy who basically paid for the Brexit Referendum a peer of the realm. That’s a lifetime appointment to the heart of government.

It was easy. It was cheap. It’s a political 9/11 because we didn’t realize we were open to bad faith actors - as long as they had cash! Hmm.

I agree and this century is still young.

This is a bit OT. As a non-lawyer, my view of the 2000 FL vote was through a different lens.

It became apparent that due to the ‘hanging chad’ business, there was no way to get an accurate count, and it was arguably a statistical dead heat (uncertainty > difference); the only fair outcome in this case is to split the electoral vote (I, know, right?). This would have made Gore president. But I assume there was and still is no legal remedy, though maybe legislation could be crafted to provide one. But I know that nothing reasonable will ever fly with the R’s.

Absolutely.

And before my anxiety level goes completely off the charts.

It was always a doable project. Even now…at this late date. But there is far more emotional investment in pessimism than what some call “optimism” (but what I call “pragmatic necessity”).

People forget that words have power: especially those that suggest that giving up is the smart play.
