The Brief: Right-Wing Influencers Go to War With Each Other and Trump

The Vibe De-Shift After the 2024 election, there was quite a bit of focus on the increasingly right-wing ecosystem of podcasts, streaming video and social media clips in which a vast number of Americans were stewing. But a fascinating New York Times analysis published this morning finds that world fraying, with right-wing influencers feuding with…

OK, we’re still at war; but, are the Iranians begging for an opportunity to prostrate themselves before Donnie’s representatives and ask for permission to speak, yet, again?

Trump. “I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office,”

He thinks his election corruption will work.

Part of what’s been hard for Democrats in recent years is the party is one supportive of institutions and, more broadly, the power of government to be a force for good.

BUT only when they are in charge, all bets are off when the Republicans show up

“Yes, sir.”

A single heavy tear rolls down the red face of a very big, strong, central casting type, wearing a skin tight t-shirt, two sizes too small. The tear glistens on his cheek one last moment before succumbing to gravity and raining upon his rippling bicep, fresh with track marks from so many man juice injections.

…then the fucker awakens to his ever present fears and insecurities. Iran and the rest of the world is laughing at him and his favorite pet Lindsey Graham has abandoned him.

What is a crying dictator to do???

Apparently, the 'Murican people needed an object lesson in why a rule-governed, nonpartisan, professional government was thought a good enough thing for folks to invest years of effort and piles of money into developing it.

Tina Peters and TPM interview subject Clay Parikh have signed a document calling on the Trump administration to transition the U.S. away from ballot marking machines toward hand-marked paper ballots and for the 2026 midterm elections to not be certified until a full hand count of ballots is completed. The push was first flagged by Media Matters.

We all know how this will turn out.

The hand count of ballots will take days/weeks to finalize, at which point the Right will go to court and demand that counting stop (shades of Florida 2000), which SCOTUS will be all too happy to do, especially if the GQP are in the lead on all races.

Tina Peters, like the Dotard, is a moron. Congress and the States control elections; the orange chud-muffin has no authority to force the States to use hand-marked ballots, regardless of how many misspelled “hereby”s he puts in his proclamation.

Those are certified by state officials, not Feds.

Trump’s IRS immunity under his settlement agreement, and making sure that the slush fund for his allies is “dead.”

The agreement for the slush fund was signed by ‘all parties’ though we are not sure exactly who signed it. (correct me if I’m am wrong). Now the addendum that was added later with the audit immunity was only signed by Blanch. How can CF sue for breach of contract when only one side signed…. or is this the planned confusion that Blanch represents CF and the government at the same time. SNAFU time.

Tried and failed in Texas. Unfortunately, the majority of those doing the tallying wave away the errors or totally ignore them. And this was a small election with few candidates.

From Wyoming legislature

And the Cyber Ninjas disaster? Even after their counting gave TFG more votes than were actually cast for him, he still lost.

And then the time and expense.

All of which will be ignored. Now, you would let them start counting the mail in and early voting ballots before election day, so that those results are the first reported…

Are Peters and CF-DJT going to increase taxes to pay for this hand count of all the ballots? And pay for all the polling locations?

Someday some investigative reporter will discover the actual reason Gov Polis commuted her sentence. No, not his libertarian leanings, something materially related to his businesses? An as yet unknown threat from Trump, like withdrawing funds for I-70 project only half completed? Something…

Republicans can’t control machine counts. They can affect hand counts.

Blanche can continue to serve as acting attorney general for the duration of Trump’s term.

I thought acting appointments were only good for 200+/- days.

ETA. I also thought that Judge Williams(?) said the agreement wasn’t worth the paper etc because there were no parties in conflict. Wouldn’t thay make the IRS bullshit history too?
