Too close to the truth.
Anything less than unequivocally stated free testing and free treatment (also for those who show coronavirus symptoms, but test negative) is an abject failure of leadership.
Health insurers could gain a lot of goodwill by proactively promising this. Though, I’m not surprised they haven’t done so. Another good argument for M4A to put these leeches out of business.
Hi. Great first draft! May I propose an edit or two?
Preserving most of yours:
The sky is blue, water is wet,
Trump is stupid, bereft and inept.
Slight change:
The sky is blue, and water is wet.
Trump is a failure, both dumb and inept.
There were 53 Republicans in the Senate who, a few months back, could have totally removed Trump’s sorry a$$ from the White House, permanently. If only half of them had broken with Dear Leader, we’d have WhiteBread Pence in charge. Not the best - nowhere near it - but at least not an unstable narcissist with an unhealthy “Dow Jones” obsession.
Imagine how the Conservative Movement would have reacted if Obama has made even one of these bizarre claims in a speech. Why aren’t Republicans held to the same high standards that they expect of the rest of us?
I’m sick of the media coddling this administration. They should be demanding to know what in the Hades is wrong with Pence for allowing Trump to behave so irresponsibly. The 25th Amendment should have been imposed three years ago. Or was Whitey the one who wrote that speech?
Or was this speech “Communications Director” Hope Hicks’ contribution to the nation after her triumphant return to Trump’s bedroom?
There’s something deeply off about offering free testing but charging US healthcare system prices for treatment. It makes the behavior of crack dealers saying, “hey, the first one’s free” seem quite ethical by comparison.
And I’ll bet all those “tax exemptions” and $50B to “small” biz will do the same. Good thing it’s Pelosi who’s writing the bill.
In this regard, Trump is following closely in the footsteps of his Republican predecessors.
The stock market didn’t buy it either.

As a former presidential speechwriter, my careful rhetorical analysis is that he’s gonna get us all killed.
He can still torpedo them in the primary, and they’d rather cut off their own fingers than be unemployed and out of government. So, nope.
I’m sure they’ll later write about how concerned they were and find some way to sound brave and resolute, but history won’t smile on the current GOP.
“Geez who wrote that psychopathic speech that was supposed to be about the virus?!”
Hey, it’s been the Republican M.O. for many decades now. Also, leaving a mess for the Dems to clean up, preventing them from doing it, blaming them again - and being re-elected by a grateful nation!
Irrational Rational exuberance non-exuberance.
They said he deserved a second chance. Well, he’s had it.
Exactly, but also could not possibly help those without paychecks.
“Don’t forget to blame the Chinese and the Europeans!”
trump lies so much and blathers ceaselessly about topics for which he has ZERO understanding.
This disaster will be trump’s undoing, so register people to vote then get to the damn polls!
VOTE BLUE for a reasoning, responsible and responsive government.
