I have followed this since before the term was first coined. And I use it and will continue to use it, if for rhetorical purposes only. It makes sense, technically, not to name a new Epoch at this time. But like Trent Lott’s snow balls the deniers will use this rejection as evidence that its OK to keep their heads in the sand. We have to push back on that. It is much better to use the term and provoke the occasional argument in order to educate someone, than to let the deniers wash their hands of the matter because “the experts said so.” Ironic, isn’t it, that they will now be using science to prove their point.
