DC Sandwich Guy Acquitted Setting aside all the bad puns and the absurdist quality to the D.C. sandwich-throwing incident, you’re left with the Trump administration overcharging crimes in federal court, engaging in performative vengeance instead of actual justice, and wasting court time and resources to try to make political points. A grand jury declined to…
Now here’s a headline style I can get behind!
But in the alternative reality of Miami, where tickets to an overwhelmingly conservative business conference headlined by Donald Trump cost up to $1,990, and billionaires from Saudi Arabia rubbed shoulders with equally wealthy American tycoons such as Jeff Bezos and Ken Griffin, those events created barely a ripple.
Instead, in a gesture that appeared almost to mock the widening disparity between the city’s haves and have-nots, organizers of the America Business Forum cooked up a little treat for attendees: a $50 gift card to spend on food to sustain themselves while they listened to their president congratulate himself for a “golden age” he said his “economic miracle” had delivered.

Yet overall it was a curious and unmistakably politically charged event with a field of Trump sycophants on the stage, loudly cheered by a crowd of mostly younger and affluent supporters of the president in the audience, some blending business suits with his trademark red Make America Great Again (Maga) caps.
Another disappointing obituary list.
She is a treasure. I appreciate her willingness to call out the nonsense and cruelty.
Sandwich Guy shoud have throw a bagel because sometimes they can be a lethal weapon. s/
Even right-wingers were taking shots at him, with Candace Owens declaring him ‘the most embarrassing human in

Considering the strong and able competition in the Regime questing for this “award”, his is quite the accomplishment.

Ho Hum. Yawn ![]()
Let’s all watch the DoJ embarrass itself again.
The Lame Duck who just appealed a court ruling that required his administration to continue food benefits for millions of Americans. What a time to be alive!
That wasn’t her doing. She didn’t bring that on herself. It was inflicted on her as part of never-ending propaganda campaign that turned her into a caricature, and not just for Republicans.
Just one year after the election, the country has turned into a shit show. Like a thrown Subway sandwich, no one saw this coming
. We need to return to the days of duck and cover.
The contrast between Pelosi and Schumer/Jeffries could not be clearer. One knew how to stand her ground. The others are some of the weakest leaders this country has produced in decades.
David Kurtz: There’s no way to know from the outside the jury’s rationale for acquittal after seven hours of deliberations. Did it think the government failed to prove its case? Did it agree with the government on the facts, but engage in jury nullification as a form of civic protest? Or was it a subtler decision that the the totality of the circumstances, including the government’s conduct, didn’t merit a conviction?
That the jury deliberated for a full 7 hours over two days leads me to suspect that all three rationales were in play, with different jurors having different reasons for acquitting Sandwich Guy but with jury nullification being the least important.
One option is Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which lets the White House impose tariffs on nations engaged in “unreasonable” or “discriminatory” trade practices.
Trump could also invoke Section 122 of the same act, allowing temporary tariffs of up to 15% for 150 days to address large trade deficits—
Another powerful tool is Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which permits tariffs on imports that threaten national security. Trump relied on it in 2018 to tax steel, aluminum, autos, and other products, and experts say he could expand those measures further. Courts rarely challenge such actions because they fall under presidential authority to protect national defense.
Finally, Trump could reach back nearly a century to Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, part of the infamous Smoot-Hawley law. That provision allows tariffs of up to 50% on countries that discriminate against U.S. goods, with no investigation or time limit required.
Trump DOJ Investigating D.C. Mayor
The U.S. attorney’s office in Washington has opened a criminal investigation into a foreign trip paid for by Qatar for D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who is Black.
If Qatar had given her the plane, instead of merely paying for her ticket (alleged) to ride on one, she would have been fine!
