Over the past two years, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has championed his own brand of aggressive border enforcement.

Again.

Republicans are a clear and present danger to the sovereignty of our nation.
Same for the current extreme Supreme Court.

Their motto keeps getting louder. Party over country.

These right wing freaks in Texas are doing all they can to break up the Union. While the Supreme Court has a 6 justice right wing supermajority, it’s doubtful they’d go along, since they full well know that allowing Texas to gut federal immigration authority is an invitation to Democratic leaning states to go off and do their own thing on a host of other issues.

Do it. That “invasion” cannot be stopped by blocking entry to the invaders. If you want to fix it you need to stop the invaders from wanting to come. Good luck with that.

Texas has a good thing going ragging on the feds for not fixing what cannot be fixed. Dumb to put themselves in the same position.

As long as Trump is around to emote and roil people, this is the perfect time for the GOP to move on authoritarian practices.

Back in the day, Southerners used to call this interposition and nullification. It’s still the same old attack on the power of the federal government, with a bit of Confederate nostalgia on the side.

Seriously? They propose it with what authority? The problem with Texas is that they’ve been coddled for far too long. They need a good many slaps to set them on the right path.

Yep, there’s an invasion all right, and the call is coming from inside the country.

Hey, Mexico, can you come take Texas back? Please? Do it today.

There are good and bad people in TX as there are in all states. That said, Texans do have a real case of high self regard. The time for them to be knocked back a few steps is coming, as the collapse of the RW becomes more evident.

Sorry … just not seeing it…what possible reason would Texans have for that “high self regard”?

I live and work in Texas (as an educator, goddammit) and I hate these motherfuckers with a white-hot passion.

I agree that there is a need to “expand court infrastructure for border issues”. No reason I can see to hand over any authority from the feds to the states. Expanding the federal courts is required for smooth administration and processing; not an act of war by some foreign gov’t. The border states are already being paid to facilitate immigration. They make it more expensive by creating hostilities, obstructions, and fear.

One comeuppance might come from large companies building or expanding or headquartering elsewhere because they cannot attract top quality employees to such a state.

Seems like there should be a few sentences at the top explaining how this law would be brazenly unconstitutional, the Alito Court notwithstanding.

Call me crazy, but the blue, yellow, and dark gray lines look like they’re substantially higher than the red line. It’s almost as if Brandon substantially increased border enforcement.
