I worked for Beto last time, against Cruz, and I think he’s got a much better shot at Abbott. Especially since Abbott is such a corrupt, pandering, incompetent shithead–and Beto knows how to use that against him.

Same here. Consider that years ago, some states gave Pharmacists the ability to not dispense meds based on their personal beliefs. Couple that with GOPers who believe that 1) life begins at conception and 2) anything that prevents implantation is an abortifacient and should be illegal and banning BC is a possibly. Pharmacists in some states are already using their power to limit dispensing of birth control.

That is very definitely not what “they” said about Roe. Absolutely everyone knew Roe was doomed as soon as Justice Handmaid’s Tale was confirmed. The only question was whether the Fascist Five would go along with Roberts’ piecemeal approach to dismantling it or just go full-on Leeroy Jenkins on it.

In California the GOP insisted on nonpartisan redistricting and jungle primaries. That pretty much wiped them out here and now we have the fifth largest economy on earth and a $97 billion dollar surplus. And a Democratic supermajority in both Houses. HA!

Former Californian here with many family members still there. What concerns me is that you could end up with two nutty Republicans with the current primary system. As I understand it.
Posted a bit about this elsewhere but it was a very interesting explanation from a rabbi who said “you are not alive after you take your last breath nor are you alive before you take your first breath.” The Jewish faith has never beleived that a fetus is a person so wondering what will happen when court cases start getting filed if a Jewish woman dies from not getting an abortion if one is called for as the only medical treatment (such as ectopic pregnancies). Will the SC actually say the Jewish faith isn’t real, only Christianity?
