However, if they do impeach, the senate show trial will be a joke, if it even happens. So the only benefit of this is a public investigation of the crimes, to better inform the 2020 electorate. He will not be removed via conviction after impeachment unless his poll approval numbers drop to 30%.
Shame on CNN for giving this jerk air time in the first place. Hacks like Jordan should not be given the privilege of spewing their hate and lies. Networks ought to use some discernment in choosing their guests. They know this guy spews fictional anger and hate above all else. Why give him a platform?
My German father spent several weeks in an American POW camp after escaping from a Russian POW camp. He had the following advise for me when I left Germany to live in the US at age 21, he said “Americans will lye when the truth will serve them better” and they are not very smart. That was 57 years ago and I attributed his attitude to the indignity of being a POW but by God that just sums it up pretty well.
If the media would focus more on finding the truth and presenting that to their audience, unvarnished -as is their main responsibility -many of these problems would go away.
The first time someone wants to tell an objective lie, cut them off. If they do it again, end the interview. Anything else is a disservice to their listeners, who should be tuning in for elucidation.
And I don’t mean spin -don’t want to get into that hornets nest. I mean objective lies. Those that can be easily fact-checked in real time. If that were the standard today, not a single Trump surrogate would have made it through an interview today. Not a single one.

The fundamental problem the Trumpers have is that Americans and the news media get that Trump was soliciting foreign help to attack Joe Biden and most everyone thinks it’s wrong and out of bounds. That’s before you get to the issue of legality of such conduct. This is about the textbook example of a high crime and misdemeanor in terms of people’s expectation of presidential conduct. You don’t use the power of your office for personal gain. On top of that, there are real federal crimes here for which Trump, Rudy, Barr and all those that aided and abetted this crime should serve hard time.
