I guess this is what Republicans would call ‘weaponized’ government/law enforcement if it weren’t a Republican doing it.
One thing I learned in grad school was that there would be times when, as an administrator, you would have to decide if this battle was the hill you would die on. Most of the time we could fight back and make a difference without having it end a career, but there are times when there is no choice. Kudos to this guy for facing the hill.
Since Florida is already good and screwed, can we just ship all the crazies there and turn the entire peninsula into a MAGA reserve?
DeSantis is a fascist not only in demeanor but also in carrying out technocratic fascist actions. Human history gives plenty of examples for where this leads.
I’ve given up on Florida. A whole lotta folks there love this miscreant. I feel for my fellow Democrats there, but this charlatan is in for the duration. It’s much like Texas and other southern and heartland states I could mention; bunch of little Hungarys and Turkeys where nasty and crazy shit happens that TPM breathlessly reports about and we shake our heads in unison. But I can’t do that anymore. Things will just unfold.

Speaking as a former Tallahassee Lassie, I will never never forgive Nixon & Reagan for the Southern Strategy. Back in my youth, it wasn’t like this, I swear. Jimmy Carter was gov in GA, we had Reuben Askew & the New South. The deterioration makes me weep.
