It’s right up there. I might do HEROS act and HR 1 (new voting rights act) first, but yeah if the SCOTUS is determined to act as a handmaid to the Republican Party then we need to reform the court so they stop standing in the way of democracy
The GOP POTUS wants the count to be finished so that he, not Biden, provides the numbers used for redistricting. His numbers will not include undocumented immigrants.
They’re gambling that they’re going to get more wins than losses, and that undercounting will help skew the results more in their favor.
May or may not work out as they suppose, though.
Again curious
I voted last Friday. And I have followed my ballots progress thru the tabulation process on line. Too bad I cannot vote again in this election.
Sotomayor in her dissent said that letting the administration implement the truncated counting timeline will cause “irreparable” harms that will be felt “for at least the next 10 years.”
That is the point. The GOP and the SCOTUS majority are just no longer hiding their intentions.
After 10 votes they give you an extra vote for free.
You didn’t get your punch-card?
A valuable perspective.
Read Sinclair Lewis novel It Can’t Happen Here.
I haven’t hit that link, but two of those states are likely ‘grapefruit states’ (Texas n Florida).
Edited to add the quote, you’re of course exactly spot on.
Yea I cant find anymore than that too. Not much information, but by the time the court is done so will be the time frame.
The court is a political tool, well used by the GOP.
Believe it or not, required reading my junior year in public school, in Texas - seriously. (Back in the early 70s)
I thought that they were going to take ‘L’s’ (lose districts), but noipe.
in AZ we have paper ballots that’s true but we fill in the circle with black or dark blue ink. Our ballots are not punch cards. No hanging chads possible here nor will we suffer those inconveniently timed voting machine glitches
The previous argument is: ‘how do we know that Kagan sided with the majority?’
Yes?
Not a big deal. If Biden wins, this will be repaired. If Trump wins, the country will empty out.
Well, that’s the $64K question with the undercounts. Full counts should bring them up, but this may end up totally backfiring and have them not getting the gains expected.
I meant your starbucks-like membership card for Chicago-style voting.
In redistricting, if you have fewer people, you have fewer representatives. Artificially low counts in perceived Democratic demographics are meant to hurt us. They’re gerrymandering, in a sense, the whole damn country.
