Supreme Court Pauses Federal Court Order, Dealing Blow to Missouri Republicans in Gerrymander Battle

The Supreme Court stayed a Missouri federal court order Thursday, blocking a maximal Republican gerrymander for the 2026 midterms — at least for now.  Litigation has been unfurling at lightning speed, and this latest development is a major loss for Republicans. On Wednesday, two contradictory developments occurred within hours of each other: a) the U.S.…

This feels like a temporary refuge of sanity, but I cant help but fear that this is a stalking horse for future disruption of the elections.

Putting the ruling on hold while the lower courts play out, without ruling on the merits of this nonsense, permits the charade to continue and potentially snap back in force as the lower courts duel.

I know a guy who knows Denny Hoskins personally (much to his chagrin). Denny’s exactly who he seems to be throughout this fiasco. Probably worse.

According to MSNOW, today’s order came from the full SCOTUS and not just Drinky Frat Boy.

Another Ken Paxton? Lovely.

This absolutely will re-surface after the midterms.

A self-own on the Right that they waited too long to affect the midterms, but there’s plenty of time to mess with the 2028 election.

What I do not understand is who the nominees for each party will be in the restored districts that were affected by the redrawn maps. Will the restored districts have to hold special primary elections?

According to the local KC Metro news, Missouri state legislators are now threatening impeachment for any of the Mizzou SC justices that vote to find him in contempt. So that’s now a direct threat on the justice system, if you’re keeping score.

Let them threaten impeachment.

It’s not going to change the fact that this guy was in contempt AND he didn’t get what he wanted from SCOTUS in time to interfere with the midterms.

Temper tantrum.

He’d like to be, but Denny’s just a CPA who cheated on his taxes who happened to win an election for MO SoS. Delusions of grandeur from a hick clown.

I think Hoskins is smaller version of Paxton.

We are back to the 2022 maps. He was in contempt and rectified it by saying we’ll use 2022 maps. https://missouriindependent.com/2026/09/10/missouri-supreme-court-finds-denny-hoskins-was-in-contempt-over-congressional-maps/

Yup. The Court told Hoskins he was in Contempt of Court for his previous conduct but they offered him a “Get Out of Jail” card just before lunch time. Hoskins went to his office and told all the MO Election Supervisors in the state to use the 2022 Maps. When he came back to Court, he was forgiven for being a moron and faced no punishment.

A referendum on the use of the HB1 MO legislature-created map for 2028 is on the 2026 MO ballot. It will be soundly defeated, as will Amendment 3 which is intended to re-impose an abortion ban after a Pro-Choice Referendum was passed by MO voters over the objections of the Governor and the legislature.

Missouri politicians, for the most part, are uneducated luddites. Missouri voters are far better educated and understand who are the friends and who are the enemies of We The People. The true Sovereigns of the United States (as per John Locke) won again.

My understanding is the Missuir Supreme Court told Hoskins to not leave Jefferson City while they considered holding him in contempt of court. That was widely interpeted as “stick around town so we can throw your ass in jail if we decide to.” Shortly there after he agreed that he would follow the Missouri Supreme Court ruling and use the 2022 map. The Supreme court considered that statement an agreement to follow their orders and said that he had purged himself of the contempt.

I guess theatening to put Hoskins in jail worked. When the US Surpreme Court set aside the district court order there was nothing between Hoskins and a jail cell. The Missouri Republicans are learning to play by the rules.
