Supreme Court Lets Red States Force Trans Girls to Play on Boys’ Teams

I have sympathy for transitioning kids, but this is a case where I feel the needs of millions of genetically female people take precedence over those of a handful of transitioning kids. Have you considered how many genetic females would never take up sports because they do not want to compete or share locker rooms with genetic males? I am old enough to remember when women were not encouraged to be athletic, and do not want to see us supporting things that make it harder for them to participate.

I also think it politically disasterous right now to tie the literal survival of democracy in this country to the rights of a handful of kids to pay soccer on the girls team. It does us no good to support rights if by doing so we become incapable of delivering them.

sometimes i wish democrats would just stop trying to champion every group that it thinks is being ‘put upon’..nothing in this world is fair, there is always going to be someone who is bigger, faster than the average bear..it is silly to insist that everyone be treated the same..we are not all the same…we are equal’under the law’ and thats about it

exactly, women and girls were not encouraged to be athletic..but they went on and did it anyway…

Y’all should read today’s TPM headlines. Targeting trans children is part of the (effective, based on your reaction) plan to strip LGBTQ rights. Which hill should we be dying on, in your battle plan? Not this ‘handful of kids’, then where?

So, they published a study that was not peer reviewed, through someone that just publishes and is not a recognized journal. Nicely done.

Why not look at a study that was cis male, transgender male, cis female, transgender female. Includes bloodwork, BMI, height, hand strength and more. Not sure if was peer reviewed, but it was detailed enough that it has been cited more than 70 times.

Have I considered how many genetic females wouldn’t have taken up the sport because of the less than 1% chance they might have a trans female on their team? I would say the number might be close to 0, because what girl starting sports at an elementary age would consider that. And because there are so few trans women athletes, that cis women would be so paralyzed with fear they wouldn’t even sign up to find out?

You know who those girls are? Girls whose parents feel that terrorizing their child against something that has little chance of happening.

Why not look at the study in Australia. Scientifically conducted and reviewed. In depth, multi-year. Australia has very specific rules for participation and inclusion and it is done on an individual basis, which is how the IOC and NCAA were doing it. Bottom line in this study is that after the treatment to reduce and remove testosterone, heart and lung function, along with other aspects are worse for trans women.

But you know what, this ruling is cruel, but more importantly for the right, they have admitted it’s the first step in overturning Obergfell. That’s why it was important to fight it.

But perhaps you agree with that, too. Failure to recognize the big picture or thinking it’s the right idea. Because some fragile girl might come face to face with a gay or lesbian couple and need to be protected from them, too.

Perhaps they should just make everyone LGBTQ+ a big scary danger to society and lock them up. Or send them away. Where does it stop? And no, I’m not overreacting. Listen to what is being said on the Right.

One more thing, why are there no complaints about trans men. After all, they’re just weak women, right?

Chris Mosier

Chris Mosier is a hall-of-fame triathlete who became the first transgender man to represent the United States in international competition. He has been instrumental in bringing various policy changes regarding the rights of trans athletes — prompting the International Olympic Committee to create new guidelines for the participation of trans athletes was one such historic move

To help and guide trans athletes, he founded ‘transathlete.com’ which serves as a resource for students, athletes, coaches, and administrators to find information about trans inclusion in athletics at various levels of play

8 times Team USA competitor

ETA: It gets tiring having to continually refute the incorrect information of the small minded. But it can’t stop. Will any of them change their mind about “it’s only a few people” (which cannot be used to argue against them)? No, but perhaps someone else reading it might come to an understanding that 1. There’s a lot of misinformation 2. There’s a lot of fear and hatred being masked behind “facts” that aren’t 3. A statistically very small number of athletes is not the Right’s point at all. It’s creating a stepping stone to even more hateful actions.

Just look at where things stand with SCOTUS -

Barrett has had issues with LGBTQ+ cases, but would she vote to overturn? Unknown, but her affiliation with certain religious organizations do not bode well.

14 states still have sodomy laws on the books, currently rendered unenforceable. But we know how well established laws on the books for years are being tossed aside.

The US Supreme Court’s 2003 decision Lawrence v. Texas invalidated sodomy laws nationwide. Therefore, the few sodomy laws that remain part of a given state’s legal code are unenforceable—although they could conceivably re-enter into effect if the Supreme Court were to reverse Lawrence v. Texas with a follow-up decision in the future.

i must admit i would not know if a kid was trans unless someone told me..how does one identify ‘trans’ in kids/ they go thro so many stages as they grow,i;ve raised 5 kids..they are all who they are. one boy was fascinated with make up..a girl was very interested in trucks, back- hoes , etc., as far as i was concerned, they were just kids, doing whatever..i think if one had really been trans i probably would have said ok,
