This Court is wholly corrupt and completely power-mad. Nothing will stop them short of losing their majority. They are blind to logic and reason and do not deserve the title of Justice of the United States.
Drastic reform of the Supreme Court is urgently required.
Maybe. The R in the Tennessee Special won by less then 10 points.
If Texas MAGA R’s whose districts were cleaved off to aid the gerrymander won the 2024 election by less then 10 they might be in a serious world of hurt.
The Shadow Six never explain their decisions, they simply issue a decree.
Hold John Roberts’ beer.
How does Trump know which drug dealers to kill and which ones to pardon?
Easy. Those who pay to play get pardoned. Those who can’t or won’t ante up become targets.
Skin color and political donations.

Scathing dissent from Justice Kagan:
"[T]his Court reverses that judgment based on its perusal, over a holiday weekend, of a cold paper record. We are a higher court than the District Court, but we are not a better one when it comes to making such a fact-based decision. That is why we are supposed to use a clear-error standard of review—why we are supposed to uphold the District Court’s decision that race-based line-drawing occurred (even if we would have ruled differently) so long as it is plausible.
Without so much as a word about that standard, this Court today announces that Texas may run next year’s elections with a map the District Court found to have violated all our oft-repeated strictures about the use of race in districting. Today’s order disrespects the work of a District Court that did everything one could ask to carry out its charge—that put aside every consideration except getting the issue before it right.
And today’s order disserves the millions of Texans whom the District Court found were assigned to their new districts based on their race.
Because this Court’s precedents and our Constitution demand better, I respectfully dissent."
Shameless court has no shame.
With a Dem president and sufficient majorities in the House and Senate to assure passage of the bills and Senate approval of Dem nominees.
The blatantly illegal behavior of this administration, the complicity of the Supreme 6, that of some in both the military and law enforcement make me wonder if the post WWII civilization most of us grew up with and imagined would be a permanent human achievement is over with and done. It appears to me that the moneyed individuals and corporate entities supporting Xi, supporting Putin, supporting Trump, et. al., are contesting who will rule the world for the next century and beyond. Power, possession, prestige at any cost is up for grabs, winner take all. Citizens of this or any nation are but an expendable resource in the gamble. Given climate change, one wonders what the “winning” will actually be. One also wonders how many of the world’s elite are mentioned in the Epstein files.
Truly rotten no good partisan hacks on the Court. John Roberts should never ever come out again to chastise citizens about respecting the Court because this is absolute BS. We have laws and rules and traditions for a REASON and the Census is one of them. AND for Alito to make a comment that CA is ‘obviously’ not legal is…well…he’s shown his colors.
The preceding paragraph of Justice Kagan’s dissent sets the stage.
Over the course of three months, a three-judge District Court in Texas undertook to resolve the factual dispute at issue in this application: In enacting an electoral map
slanted toward Republicans, did Texas predominantly use race to draw its new district lines? Or said otherwise, did Texas accomplish its partisan objectives by means of a racial gerrymander? The District Court conducted a nine-day hearing, involving the testimony of nearly two dozen witnesses and the introduction of thousands of exhibits. It sifted through the resulting factual record, spanning some 3,000 pages. It assessed the credibility of each of the witnesses it had seen and heard in the courtroom. And after considering all the evidence, it held that the answer was clear. Texas largely divided its citizens along racial lines to create its new pro-Republican House map, in violation of the Constitution’s Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. The court issued a 160-page opinion recounting in detail its
factual findings.
The District Court was thorough. The Shadow Six didn’t care. So much for Coney Barrett’s claim they are not a bunch of partisan hacks.
This will be their defense to reject California’s districts. If it’s already the “eve” of the election, well, it’s too close to change.
Of course, they did this shit last election, but varied on whether it was too close depending on the political party involved.
Democrats have been running about +15 in special elections. Anyone in a +10 district is likely underwater.
