That’s the 101st Airborne, deployed at Ike’s orders to escort the Little Rock Nine to class.

Unfortuntely, under this administration the troops would be deployed to prevent the Black children from attending school, regardless of what the Supreme Court had ordered.

At least this shuts down the doomsayer predictions of Trump using the military to somehow swing the midterm elections. Now all he has is ICE goons and Proud Boy cosplayers to try harassing local polling booths, and that ain’t enough.

Even in that deplorable scenario, the fact remains that the Prez has regular forces at his (garbage) disposal, and no obvious need to federalize state NG.
In fact, in the Little Rock crisis, Eisenhower did federalize the Arkansas Guard, but did it so that he could order them to return to their barracks. Governor Faubus had earlier mobilized them in order to prevent the students from attending Little Rock Central High School.
A few years later, JFK federalized the Alabama NG during the “Stand in the Doorway” crisis, this time with Governor Wallace.
Not expecting anything here to stay settled, but the Court majority clearly thought this was a suitable way of tamping down the patient’s excesses.

I am reading Nobody’s Girl by Virginia Roberts Giuffre. It’s really rough but I feel like I must read it to honor her, my wife, my daughter, and the victims. I think we all should read it because it explains how these damaged girls became prey. It’s repulsive.

I have to put my mental filters into place periodically. Update them so I can simply read the news and exist. The pure vileness of the man and the people around him has been showing up clearly this year. But now this is hitting a new level, with more direct information coming up. So update again for me.

Just setting up the abolition of birthright citizenship with the right decision on this for the wrong reasons.
Ok, so only some of the Fascist Six are on board with the ability of the United States government to invade ourselves as directed by a demented leader without oversight.
