I go into the local store and order my lumber and pay at the front desk. The yard people load it on my truck, and I go home and get busy.
OR
I go to the big box joint and find a cart out in the parking lot that still rolls and pick through the pile of already picked through lumber and load it on the cart, and push it and 400 pounds of lumber up and down the aisles looking for fasteners, and roll the whole mess through self-checkout, and out across the parking lot to load it in my truck by myself. My pushing 80 body is already fatigued and not going to do much else that day. But I might have saved a Dollar for all my courteous self-service.

This would be super-stupid. The 2021 redistricting was already an exercise in retrenching incumbent R’s and packing in D voters into existing D districts. Redrawing those districts now necessarily makes them more competitive. And Republican incumbents do not want to run in competitive districts.

In any sane world a law enforcement officer deliberately using less lethal weapons in such a way would be a slam-dunk attempted murder conviction. And the civil suit settlement would come out of the police pension fund.

Mr. Newsome is mistaken here, although a common mistake. Marines are not for defending democracy or liberties or shit. Marines serve the state, and they are used to enforce it’s policies. If the government goes authoritarian like it is happening, they can be used to quash opposition.
