State Sen. Defends Prediction About “Chopping Up” US Senator

Minnesota Republican state Sen. Dave Osmek on Tuesday defended comments he made last week to advocate for Jason Lewis’ Senate bid.

He has also mocked women for expressing trauma after unwanted sexual contact like grabbing or kissing, proclaiming: “Come on! She wasn’t raped.”

Hell, anything short of murder and those sluts should just man up and walk it off.

I am constantly surprised that these Neanderthals go out of their way to advocate for the most visibly-harsh aspects of patriarchy.

It’s not enough to ensure women are economically dependent upon men. They want to make damn sure that any man can slut-shame any woman in the vilest way possible.

Maybe we should start holding men to some kind of standard.

If someone ever rapes this guy, I hope we’re all present to see him recant this garbage.

He thinks he’s channeling a Norseman ancestor, ya, a Viking.

I suppose that’s your friend in the wood chipper?

Ignore Osmek - he’s just a bedbug.

Dave Osmek (R-Rich Idiots) is an opportunistic butt-kisser, and Jason Lewis is a former AM Hate-Radio Shock-Jock so what do you expect?
Osmek represents District 33a in the Minnesota Senate, which is the far-western suburbs of the Twin-Cities including the western shore of the very wealthy Lake Minnetonka communities and their further west hobby-farms, and also the heavily Evangelical Blue-Collar Western ex-urbs.
ALL of the Republican State Senators in the Minnesota Senate have seen how much publicity their colleagues have gotta attacking Rep. IIhan Omar (D-MN), so they are all jumping on the anti-Islam bandwagon to get their 15-min. of media fame.
Consider the source and move along, nothing to see here.

Why this is even on TPM is a mystery to me.

Republican language and imagery is consistently crude, hostile, and violent. It’s not a coincidence that, right now, we have an epidemic of right wing groups perpetrating acts of violence and terrorism against perceived threats.

Of course I believe in the First Amendment, but let’s not pretend this is innocuous.

I’m telling you, folks. Tina is in big trouble with this guy. Jason has state-wide name recognition and, unlike the way Franken was treated for a hint of bad behavior, Jason will be rewarded with an overwhelming victory for this position.

I don’t know how she counter-balances this invective from her opponent. No one is quite as vile as this guy is and he means to have that seat by any means possible.

This is only the beginning. This is his schtick and if it isn’t coming from him directly, it will come from surrogates like this idiot on the radio. And his supporters will shake their fists and say ‘YEAH!!!’.

“Come on! She wasn’t raped.”

If not for the convenient Wikileaks email dump right after the Access Hollywood debacle, that would have replaced “MAGA” as Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan.

As long as we have a Democrat as Secretary of State overseeing a fair election, I doubt Lewis will beat Smith. He might get close, but I doubt Lewis can win here.

Will hope you are correct. I’m not in MN, but across the river (see the Sean Duffy thread from yesterday - that’s where my focus is). I’d like to see MN remain blue.

Thank you. Let’s not give these creeps exposure.

Is this more of that “Minnesota nice” I keep hearing about?

What are you smoking? Tina will do very well, as she did in the special election. Jason couldn’t even win a second term in his ex-urban district.

“Minnesota nice” is a myth.

I think Smith is doing quite well as a new senator in terms of name recognition, job approval, etc. I do worry she won’t get enough support and resources as people are more focused on races in other states like ME and CO. Same for NH but Shaheen is a much stronger and more experienced candidate.

Osmek predicted that Lewis will “chop” Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) “into little pieces.”

So, just for clarity, is that chop em up Fargo style, or MBS bonesaw style?

Bullshit.

Tina will wipe the floor with this moron. Lewis is all mouth and no results and always has been.
He lost his re-election as an incumbent by over 5% to Democrat Angie Craig in the Minnesota 2nd District (heavily Red) in 2018 (that was WITH the RNCC and others pouring HUGE amounts of $$$ into the race.)

He doesn’t stand a chance in hell against Tina Smith, who has turned out to be very popular as a U.S. Senator, approaching Amy Klobuchar’s Senate approval numbers in a short 2 years.

Different day, different time. The ugliness of these statements made by the radio guy resonate with a whole lot of people these days. Special elections are quite a bit different than a general election. There will be something on the ballot to get the lunatics out with the instruction to make sure they vote for Jason.

We’ve seen this before (not necessarily in MN). Tina needs to win, for sure. But she’s up against someone with a very loud megaphone.

Q: Did we require modesty from men? If not, why not? If so, cite examples. Why is “modesty” so essential for women, but irrelevant for men?

Toxic masculinity is just something that I’ve never been able to grok. I’ve never needed to tear others down in order to protect my own ego and I’ve never felt the need to butt heads to prove I’m “a man.”
