After President Trump blew a deadline in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, the special master called him out and gave him to the close of business today to remedy the delinquency.
I hope Judge Dearie holds fast to the rules and doesnt tolerate any BS.
I just had a thought about TFG which borrows from another quote about Democracy:
If you only like the rule of law when you can manipulate court cases in your favor, then you don’t like the rule of law.
I found it odd that Trump’s legal team didn’t drag out the appointment of the Special Master far longer than they did. It seemed to be settled very quickly. Had they gone the hardball, contentious, acrimonious route they might have stalled the process for several more weeks or months.
Judge is from NYC he knows precisely what kind of a complete zero-integrity asshole he is dealing with when he has to deal with a Trump - - there is no surprise for Dearie here… and he is not putting up with nonsense.
IANAL but I am hoping if the filing is not in by 6:00, then at 6:05 Judge Dearie holds Trusty in contempt with a bench warrant to immediately remand him to custody until the filing is in. It won’t hurt TFG, but his other shysters should take notice.
So far that’s precisely what he done. Unfortunately, judge loosey cannon may and has overruled Dearie, and both embraces BS in the filings before her and wields a firehose of BS of her own. The only checks on her BS are the higher courts, and to their credit the 11th circuit has stayed her BS with regard to the classified docs.
A dozen judges and prosecutors could go full Donkey Kong on Trump in DC and a half dozen other states, but they don’t. They have to “build their case”. You know, for a few years at least.
My understanding is Congress has to vote on issuing this subpoena. Not sure if it’s the full Congress, or just the House. Seems like a lot to pull off, and then once that’s assured stand by an 11/4 deadline, no?
ETA: Nov 4th is the deadline to produce docs, The day to show up and testify is Nov 14th. He won’t do either, so not really any election-oriented drama.
