That was an accurate statement at the time it was made. Nothing was happening at the DoJ and Nothing did happen until Smith was appointed last November or whenever it was. Smith has had to work nonstop to try and get caught up and bring this case to trial. Had any work been done prior to Smith’s appointment by Garland, he wouldn’t have had to scramble so hard to get everything together in time, and we still may not make it.
The entire point is: it would have been nice to have this taken care of BEFORE the 2024 elections! and it might have been possible had the DoJ gotten an earlier start on prosecuting Trump.
