Once Trump is convicted on his numerous criminal conspiracies, LOUD public pressure should be focused on every Senator who refused to impeach him, demanding their resignation - either from Congress or the Republican Party. It will only take one or two Congressional defections to strip McConnell of his death grip over the Senate.

He’ll be dead or engaged in massive litigation - the brand is poison. Maybe we’ll see Don Jr and Eric on the stage with some 3rd-rate candidate in 2024. But they too might be too busy in the courtroom to do much campaigning.

Romney might be, on a few issues. It’s just a feeling I can’t really quantify, but I get the sense that he really despises McConnell’s ‘power uber alles’ approach, and Graham’s obsequious toady-ness.

Because he hasn’t spotted the next Top Dog in Republican politics yet. Until he does, he’s not going to shift gears, in case anything he says causes him problems w/them. Right now, he’s still playing the ‘Party Loyalist’ part. When someone else emerges as the leading voice in the Party, he’ll toe that line.
It won’t be McConnell. He doesn’t like to be the front-man on TV, he likes to be the power broker while someone else is the figurehead. That’s why he let Boehner and Ryan get the spotlight when he could, and keeps his own answers short and given while he’s in motion away from the reporters.
With any luck, they’ll be in jail. Look for a resignation at 9am on Jan 20, so Pres. Pence can pardon him and so he can cost people lots of money when ‘Biden 46’ merch has to get redone as ‘Biden 47’.
Let’s remember that the term of office for a Supreme Court Justice is not, in fact, ‘for life’. Rather, ‘[t]he Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour’.
Given his sense of entitlement, I’m willing to bet ol’ Barf Kanabeer will break some law within the next five years.

I know what you mean but if Romney truly despises McConnell’s approach, he can always vote for the Democrat – Schumer – to be Senate Majority Leader.
Maybe his life wouldn’t be worth living afterwards!
