Some Hill Republicans — *Some* — Show Willingness To Accept Trump Loss | Talking Points Memo

While the vast majority of congressional Republicans are staying mum on the news of former Vice President Joe Biden’s projected victory, at least a few are stepping into the breach and acknowledge that President Trump lost his re-election.

How nice of them

The republican spiders won’t come out of their hidey holes till more of their ilk do. There may be some that actually are sincere, and the rest need some diatomaceous earth to crawl thru.

Come January 20th 2021 you will accept it.

That’s one Senator and one congressman from the GOP. Where are the rest of them? Remaining cowards in fear of a mean tweet? Or are they traitors who hate the Constitution and the law?

It’s one or the either.

Let me know when any of these brave republicans are the swing vote to cross zombie moscow mitch.

Would it be wrong if I replied to some troll after noon on 1/20/21 by posting, “Joe Biden is President. Suck it up, snowflake”?

The Base
The GOP Base
The GOP Base that Trump convinced that it WAS the Republican universe of voters

Who else are GOP politicians going to appeal to?
And how does Murdoch’s mission intertwine?

Don’t count on it. Remember, this is the crowd that hasn’t even accepted Hawaii as Obama’s birthplace.

Sorta apropos of this thread, yesterday I heard Steve Inskeep interviewing Jonah Goldberg about things political. The subject of Lindsey Graham came up, to wit: Why, oh why, is he still salaaming before Trump? As Goldberg put it (I’m paraphrasing here), Graham has won his election; he doesn’t need Trump any more. You’d think he’d be spinning around on a hillside like Maria in The Sound of Music.

Long story short: I hope I’m wrong, but those who are thinking about a run in 2024 (Cruz, Cotton, Hailey, Hawley . . . anyone else?) who think they need Trump and/or his children/in-laws in their corner most likely won’t be terribly congratulatory toward Biden right off the bat. Which, again, makes Graham’s recent behavior even more baffling.

Sad–for us as well as for them.

Bugger Rmoney. He voted for Barrett when he could have abstained and been only a semi-chickenshit.

Helping clean up after the Repubs leave, or try to leave!

It’s pretty funny. We had the same dynamic in 2008-2010 where suddenly Sarah Palin was the most important person in the world and everyone in the party was kissing her ass.

But she LOST. Just like Trump. The Republican mob is insanely stupid and will worship anyone who says the stupid shit they like, but you have to be winning and ‘owning the libs’. Republican base people stopped giving a shit about Palin almost immediately. Just like they walked away from Bush when it was clear he was a disaster late in his presidency and couldn’t do anything more for them. They got wiped out in the '06 midterms after Katrina and Harriet Miers and they immediately started looking for a new Messiah.

Neither Trump, nor his children, will be a factor in 2024. It will be some equally horrific ‘human’ that takes that role. That said, it’ll take a few weeks for them to hit the realization that he’s a loser, so those ‘hopefuls’ are right that being seen as a traitor right now will be remembered. In a few weeks they’ll settle on ‘it was stolen, but there is nothing we can do. Our mission now is to make this illegitimate ‘president’ a one termer.’

Baby steps - most conservatives accept Hawaii as a state.

I am unconcerned about how Republicans act today. I will not intrude on their grief. Tomorrow, the fight resumes.

I have thoughts about their grief:

Actually better trolling would be to agree with the magat that Biden is too demented to go on and that Kamala Harris will soon be his president.
