Some GOPers Don’t Even Want To Weigh In On The Merits Of House’s Case | Talking Points Memo

Neither Manchin or Sinema is up for re-election until 2024. Assuming that Manchin even runs for Senate again (there has been a lot of talk of running for Governor for quite some time).

Voting to acquit won’t do a thing for Jones, nor is McConnell likely to offer him anything. Republicans want that Alabama seat back, and they are going to get it. My feeling all along has been Jones (who voted for more witnesses) is going to vote for removal and just not worry about it.

The repugs are more likely to give him a medal than they are to censure him.

There’d be some old guy with some old literature from his socialist party

Starting with Reagan we’ve had three anti-government extremists as president for 19 going on 20 years. Sanders will be a one-term Democratic Socialist president no doubt reined in by his own party which would control congress. What’s wrong with someone on the far left? We’ve had two decades of far right governance, with centrist Democrats in between. Sheesh.

And if he emerges with none of them intact, the rest of us should consider ourselves lucky.

I hope so. Hate to see any of them give Republicans a “bipartisan” talking point.

they have decided

The day a Democrat steps into the White House, Republicans intend to impeach him. They’ve decided that now.

That’s not America First. That’s America: Dead Last.

Mathews, also, said last week that he didn’t expect Roberts to sit there as a potted plant during the Senate trial.

Is this the election to experiment with?

Yes, well, contrary to every bit of right-wing hackery that Roberts has done before, there were those who insisted that we couldn’t possibly predict that Roberts would preside over Impeachment like a right-wing hack.

As I remember there were a lot of people who claimed Barr was an institutionalist and the Mueller report would be protected.

Of course not!

It rises to the level of an impeachable offense by Chiselin’ Trump.

And they were pretty damn adamant about it too!

Considering that his attempt at censure will likely fail, Manchin will likely vote for impeachment.

Here’s what Jones said about impeachment

There is also this ‘gem’ from the ‘my dog is innocent’ foundation.

“You Dems/liberals will roll over and take it like bitches, but our crazies we’ve cultivated won’t, so suck it up buttercups. WE DARE YOU TO GET ARMED AND TAKE THE COUNTRY BACK FROM US. WE DARE YOU. Because that’s the only way it’s happening.”

Probability of NC legislature enacting legislation to suppress votes and “save” Tillis: 100%.

I get the feeling that Doug Jones is a mensch and will vote accordingly. But tomorrow at this time everyone will be screeching about socialism, so meh.

Sentaor McSally: “We only run from liberal hack reporters.”

Secretary Pompeo: “And smart female reporters.”

Huh? Trump’s been impeached. Manchin will vote to convict?

I’m pretty sure he did know due to the mass of publicity in the public domain about the hazards of smoking. But I think he just blew it off, never seriously looked at the evidence and considered he was above it all as a “rich” conservative. It fit his conservative persona, just as climate denialism did. Blindness to science is a feature, not a bug with these people.

And he’ll go to his grave being just this effing stupid. I’ll take bets we won’t see any Yul Brynner type ads from this guy.
