So.Much.More To the Tom Barrack Scandal: Just Wait For It | Talking Points Memo

I can’t remember where I read it that Trump wanted Tom Barrack to be in his Cabinet, Barrack declined saying he had to much baggage, turns out he was correct.

So this begs the question of why Barrack didn’t quite rate a pre-emptive blanket pardon, que no?

Take this typical Facebook post, talking about “the other side of the vaccination story.” "They"apparently lure you in with lottery tickets and grocery discounts. Also, America, please ignore the 900,000 or so excess deaths during the pandemic.

I think it is absolutely hysterical that the White House is saying that Facebook posts are causing people to not take vaccinations and that supposedly that is the cause of death … This is another story about causal links. Unless I am wrong, Facebook has routinely blocked posts or obliterated the ability of people to read the other side of the vaccination story. Just remember – vaccines are big business!!! So are blood clots and the adverse reactions ranging from death to birth defects to stillbirths during the third trimester … THESE ADVERSE REACTIONS are REAL!! And so is the report of 11,000 deaths alone.

Don’t let Washington, D.C. continue to pull the wool over your eyes. Make your own decision … and if you really think your life is worth a few Lottery Tickets or $20.00 – then you can sell your soul – I WON’T!!

The Morning Memo is Too unfocused. It’s getting worse by the day. Why not just open up a blog for us to take over? Funny how TPM decides to deal with the post Rump media situation.

He sure kept perfect track of all the ones he successfully shit-canned. And we will be discovering more of these for years to come.

I think they want Barrack to flip on trump – probably think he is more likely to do so sooner rather than later. He probably dealt with both Trump and Weiselberg when he facilitated the transfers of money to the Trump Organization. There was an awful lot of money that disappeared from the Inaugural Committee’s coffers. A lot was collected, but not much was spent on the actual event.

Maybe there was a meeting at CPAC where GOP pollsters/strategists finally pounded it into their skulls that killing your base is not a good long term political strategy.

First of all, they all do take Marching Orders on a regular Basis

That’s S.O.P.

And this particular mass-switch–from so many talking RWNJ heads–does portend Marching Orders indeed.

Yeah, maybe somebody crunched the numbers and pointed out the number of voters they will lose for 2022 and 2024. It would not be a huge change but losing 1-2% could be enough to flip some close races.

Speaking of up to your eyeballs. Looks like Kevin McCarthy is a witness!

Agreed, but the origin of the orders isn’t clear to me.

McCarthy is a profoundly stupid person, he won’t do well under questioning, especially if Pelosi nixes the 3 insurrectionists he wants to have on the committee.

I have seen shifts like this in the past, but the number and rapidity speak to your uberboss reference, which makes sense to me.

On a side note, it is clear to me that there is little respect held by these people for their broadcast audience.

I guess nobody else remembers how Mike Flynn was embroiled in a scheme to enrich himself by selling nuclear power tech to the Middle East?

I dunno, seems related to me.

I’d settle for him being fully exposed. Wait … maybe not.

I read somewhere that Kushner’s debt was absorbed by the UAE. Now if that isn’t criminal, I’m not sure what is. Certainly leads to implication that Jared was involved in part of this scheme. [Wish I could find the darned reference to this]

ETA: Here it is, from Heather Cox Richardson’s blog this morning:

**

Barrack got to know Trump in the real estate world of the 1980s, and by 2010, he acquired $70 million of Jared Kushner’s debt and retired enough of it to keep Kushner from bankruptcy. When Trump launched his 2016 campaign with anti-Muslim rhetoric, Barrack calmed his Middle East contacts down, assuring them that Trump was simply using hyperbole.

Actually, any question that “Sheriff” Troy Nehls asks should bring at least a modest chuckle or groan. His mayonnaise-laden softballs to Kevin should make particularly enjoyable viewing.

The guy is in custody until Monday, at the earliest. He’s been deemed a flight risk by the prosecution and I have no doubt he’d be gone in a NYC minute.
