Ted Cruz and El Presidente do not appear to be particularly close. And at least on Ted’s end, any sycophancy is purely a transactional calculation aimed at the 2024 presidential election. Ted Cruz will never, ever stop trying to be POTUS, and he will debase himself in any manner necessary to achieve that title.

Alabama has hundreds of thousands of fine people living there, and is a necessary part of the US.
So we need to help the fine people to overcome the bad people, electorally speaking.
What we don’t need is mindless condemnation of an entire state because of the actions of a few horrible people.

Its more than that. The republican primary is very full. Ex Auburn head coach, ex Governor, lots of other state GOP people. That’s why Moore actually has a pretty decent chance. The “establishment” GOP vote will likely get splintered, allowing him to once again win with the religious right crazies.

Sessions is popular and has name recognition. He’s probably the early favorite in a crowded field.
Richard Selby, the senior Senator from Alabama, is backing Sessions and plans to meet with Trump at the LSU-'Bama game this weekend to discuss. We’ll see.
