Depends on the person’s wealth status and who they are connected to. Some get handed a shit sandwich and go to prison, others play golf at fancy resorts. Two exceptions as far as legal entanglements go were Fife Symington, former Governor of Arizona, who was sent to prison for a few years for illegalities concerning real estate deals. And Evan Mecham, also former Governor of Arizona, who was busted for embezzling his inauguration fund to prop up hid car dealership. Yes, we actually did elect a used car salesman to high state office. Not that selling used cars is necessarily a bad thing y’understand.

I went to bed pretty late last night and as far as I know Mike Lindell yammered through the whole night. Said he was going to stay up all 72 hours, anyway. A wingnut on uppers, boy, I never saw that coming. :scream: Anyway when he’s done yammering everyone will be entirely persuaded that Trump did indeed win the election and he will be reinstated by acclamation. Pro tip: The air will be full of pigs so keep an eye out.

It’s far more prestigious, moral and upstanding than being a cilantro farmer.

I am very curious on how the faithful are going to handle their fantasy not coming true.

They just pronounce it did come true, but it’s being kept a secret. Biden is now a faux President, and is going along with the ruse in exchange for not being jailed for treason. Trump is making all the decisions.

OK then… that’s $5 trillion combined for the two bills.
How’s that gonna be paid for again?
One I think is spending over 5 years. But it’s the House that does appropriations. The Senate can only advise on that point.

Thank you for this, the articles and the encouragement.

We now live in an era where immediate gratification is expected. We all swim in that culture even as we hold to the illusion we are outside it, which sets up endless opportunities for disappointment and discouragement.

That is rationalization is stretching tighter than Joan rivers face.

No problem. I was aware of it, but found myself looking up the deets this morning as well.

I am impressed with the discipline and focus of the Biden Administration, and not just because they followed the Trump fiasco. I haven’t heard many of his advisors attempting to put themselves in the spotlight or expose what I’m sure have been tense and heated discussions about how to proceed. They are actually multi-tasking the way they need to. I sound surprised, as it was only one four year term by Trump after the Obama Administration, but wow was that a long (and deadly for too many US citizens between covid-19 and gun fatalities) and dark term.

Kudos for the first seven months and for the first time in a long while, I’m optimistic about our immediate and long term future:

Still lots to do, but there is positive motion. It’s also worth reminding ourselves who some of these White House Staff are as we see their efforts unfold.

By the way, since this might spare someone else the bother of looking, the vote was 50-49 and the missing member was Mike Rounds (R-SD).
