Beyond just dismissing Democrats’ claims of political retaliation, some Senate Republicans on Monday offered a vigorous defense of President Donald Trump’s unceremonious ouster of two key impeachment witnesses just 48 hours after the Senate voted to acquit him.
Well, motherfuckers, rest assured, you reap what you sow. What goes around comes around. You’ll be drinking shit martinis soon enough.
Now this is seriously a waste of TPM space. It might have been a story if they expressed some kind of sadness over what hey have wrought, but this otherwise is not a story worth printing.
Honestly, it feels more like this with Trump’s cabal:
Trump: Tom, what do you think? Should I retaliate against Sondland and Vindman? Sen Tillis: Uh…Splunge. Trump: Did he say splunge? Sens Barrasso and Johnson: Yes. Trump: What does splunge mean? Sen Tillis: It means it’s a great-idea-but-possibly-not-and-I’m-not-being-indecisive! Trump: Good. Right. What do you think? Sen Barrasso: Er. Splunge? Trump: OK. Sen Johnson: Yeah. Splunge for me too. Trump: So all three of you think splunge, huh? Senators: Yes! Trump: Well now we’re getting somewhere.
Words are flowing out Like endless lies into a sewage sump They slither while they pass And slip away across the universe. Pools of sorrow, they enjoy Inflicting on the citizens Possessing Trump, caressing Trump Jackals who murmur to themselves Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world
“The President has a right to surround himself with individuals he chooses and he trusts . . .
I don’t take issue with that proposition. The problem is that Trump does not choose or trust people who obey the law and testify truthfully. The people he does choose and trust have no business holding responsible positions in government.
The GOP has proven itself to be filled with cowards who will defend Trump from anything. If Dems don’t take the Senate elections as seriously as the Presidential election, we’ll be forced to deal with a party of sycophants that will defend any dictator as long as he’s a Republican.
We need to elect the most electable Dems in each Senate race that have the best shot of beating their GOP opponents. Not just the swing states, EVERY state. The GOP won’t get it in their heads to change unless they’ve lost everything.
Trump is telling the NH detachment of the Trumpanzee Army a lot of worn out stories of dubious truth content and encourages the crowd to chant “lock her up”, this time referring to Nancy Pelosi.
Actually, it’s directly related to the 2020 election. For that matter, you could say that many of the people who testified were trying to make sure there’s a 2024 election.
The congresswoman responded that she has been outspoken about her dissenting opinions on many of Trump’s decisions, especially with regard to foreign policy.
Does anyone here know what she’s referring to? I sure as hell don’t.
