What almost makes me sick is the number of people who had family in WWII and are now Trumpers.
They don’t seem to know what they fought against what Trump is now.
Last from this rant is the number of Nam vets, some of which I cared for, are backers of 5 deferment Don .

Two women will make a stand and swallow nothing.
Males will just swallow what Trump produces.

“I am not going to vote for Medicaid benefit cuts,” Hawley told reporters in the Senate basement in March. “Work requirements, I’m totally fine with."

A distinction with a major difference. Hawley is opposed to cutting the benefits but is fine with massive cuts to the number of people who qualify for those benefits.

But 21% of Missourians either get Medicaid or CHIP so I am not going to vote for benefit cuts for people who I think are qualified.”

A loophole you could drive a Cybertruck through.

So Hawley is a “yes” vote.

Lisa Desjardins did a pretty good visual explanation yesterday of how the new tax bill will explode the debt all on its own, and the comparatively puny cuts that have wreaked so much devastation on the government and the services it can give:

Gee, if only there was a way to have sufficient tax revenue so safety net, environmental, and energy programs wouldn’t have to be cut.

I am fascinated in a hindenburg sort of way to see how all of the republican senators and all of the reporters are absolutely avoiding the question of whether perhaps we should trim back the tax giveaways to billionaires. Argue at length about how many disabled and poor people you’re going to kill, but touch not one hair on those perfectly-coiffed heads.

I made that point yesterday(?). Trump’s trumped up rescission bill is less than 0.5% of the current deficit. That makes it irrelevant in the overall budget but it includes a complete defunding of NPR and the CPB.

Maybe a 100% tax rate on income less than $400,000 then progressively lower tax rates on higher income so the job creators are sufficiently funded to finally kick trickle down into gear.

I’m more outraged, but yes I scratch my head all day about what the deadly consequences of letting tax cuts for the rich expire would be. Will the super rich have their homes swatted? Pie them in the face? Will the 1% really melt down if their taxes go back up a bit? Really?

The extent that these fuckers have dug in on making people who buy yachts with pocket change pay more tax is hard to understand. There is one other reason, I suppose: they’re using giving tax cuts to the rich as cover for simply being cruel. Maybe killing the poor for laughs is what they like to do more than anything else.

I would like some evidence supporting that claim. As the relative of several red state teachers I arm pretty sure they aren’t actively teaching the lunacy that motivates MAGA. People are learning that lunacy through their local television sets, and churches. Don’t blame the teachers. They are not paid enough to be responsible for that level of evil.

Perhaps just enabled. If you don’t teach evolution, or you have a “bible as literature” course that’s actually prosyletizing bible study, or you teach a skewed version of history…

(And I think in some of the private institutions it is likely rather worse.)
