Senate GOP Doesn't Like Trump's Slush Fund So They're Going Home Instead of Doing Anything About It

‘It Makes Everything Way Harder’ “We will pick up where we left off,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) told reporters after a lengthy private Republican conference lunch on Thursday, which reportedly ended with Thune telling Senate Republicans that they were being sent home to start their Memorial Day recess early. The House quickly followed suit,…

It is all he has now. The only thing Republicans believe about him is the amount of pain he can dole out to them. Threatening people or nations is it. Do it my way or else. Fancy president-ing there.

Raise your hand if you thing the GOP will stop Trump’s ballroom, his slush fund, his get out of tax jail free card, or his golden arch complete with a McDonalds at the bottom (OK I embellished here.).

Anyone? I promise no one will laugh if you raise your hand.

So let’s see: $1.776 billion (gotta be precise) for the slush fund, $1 billion for the ballroom, who knows how much per day for Iran …

It’s so interesting that all those clutched pearls that happen when Democrats squeak through some legislation that actually helps people but has a possibility of raising the deficit in the far future (and yes, they do some funny accounting, too, because they’re not ballsy enough to simply raise taxes on the rich) turn into shrugs when President Man and His Gang of Gangsters hand out the money to their pals in huge honking quantities, raising the debt and deficit by factors uncharted by Cato Institute accountants.

It has been said many times in many ways, but we are not a serious country.

They’re the Party of Lincoln. That has to count for something Oh Fuck it. I’m trying to keep a sense of humor but there is absolutely nothing funny here.

So, am I understanding correctly, an almost 2 billion dollar corrupt slush fund and the issue that Republicans have is not the corrupt slush fund, or anything really. It is the fact that a bunch of criminals would obviously be rewarded, which we now know because Democrats helpfully pointed this out, bothers some of them because it will (or should) make them look bad. (And that probably only because it is an election year.)

When Blanche said “lots of people who hurt police” get money what he ended up meaning was that lots of people whom police hurt get money. In truth it’s not lots. But some do.

Also in truth: nobody who assaults police violently and hurt them seriously gets money for having done that. Nobody, ever. Until now.

My wife was a CDC statistician who was targeted by DOGE and lost her job for no cause. I had a contract to support VA PTSD benefits that was terminated by the Muscovites without cause. Are we eligible to apply? Seems like they have not thought this through.

First of Many Ex-Trump Officials Running for Office Wins Dem Primary

“An ex-federal prosecutor who said he resigned from the Justice Department after Trump began weaponizing it against his perceived political enemies, Zach Dembo, won the Democratic primary in the race to represent Kentucky’s 6th House District and replace Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY), who’s running for Senate.”

I met Zach Dembo last summer at the KY Dem Convention and again later at a smaller group meet up a few weeks later. He’s a great candidate and I don’t think that race is as a long shot as outsiders may surmise. 6th district is not my district, but when I texted Zach congrats on his win I did offer some volunteer time for him.

I think calling him “an ex trump official” makes him seem like he has trump stink on him. He does not.

Check the language in the statement about decisions being entirely the prerogative of the committee that Trump will appoint. There are no provisions for oversight or transparency anywhere.

At least the GOP Senators got to argue over the President’s over reach. The Congress was sent home after sitting on its hands. I am sure they all got lunch.

This was my first reading of the headline, as well. Folks need to be a bit more careful to not accidentally draw connections where there are none…

But when the NYT does it, whoa! Infidels!

“A handful had indicated publicly that they wouldn’t vote in favor of the immigration package if it also included the ballroom funding, and more, according to reports, supposedly privately had heartburn about it.“

HEARTBURN. OMG. Hey a$$holes, try a glass of water with some baking soda. Then vote to do what’s right.

As if.
