Many keep urging calm, that if Manchin is harassed too much he’ll go to the other side, and where will that leave Dems, etc. My take is that we’re pretty much at the last stand right now. A rigged/suppressed midterm, followed by a rigged/suppressed prezo election, and it may be over in terms of having a legal, non-violent arena in which to fight. Leaving Joe alone to do crosswords or whatever he does from his corner of the trench instead of manning a mortar isn’t helping. He’s not stupid, he knows what’s at stake, and he’s doing nothing about it. I don’t think he’s playing the mother of all rope-a-dopes, and that leaves only one thing, which is he’s fine with minority-rule apartheid. Fuck him.

I think the numbers coming out of WV as per RMS the other night regarding the issues of import of the day, plus the upcoming people in the street events in both WV and DC are going to move the needle enough to placate the ego, see where WV stands giving him the most valuable cover to help pull himself loose of Mitch’s grasp.
Perhaps the most important thing we can all do now is to support WV Dems and voters who are doing the local ground work to make their voices heard and move that needle.

as usual, @khyber900 gives an excellent analysis to help allay my fears; I encourage everyone to go back and read the whole post. As much as I like to yell about Manchin, the reality is that we are not even close to true desperation. The Dems need to stay nimble and game out all the scenarios so they can stay on the offensive. Obamacare taught them a lot about what works and doesn’t work when faced with absolute nihilists on the other side.
