Evidently Sherrod needs to waste his breath. Sad.

I think it’s a good call, even if it is ultimately pissing into the wind.

Look him in the eye and urge him to do the right thing. You must be joking and you obviously didn’t wrestle hard enough.
This is just enabling him. He has no respect for Brown and Brown has taken the wrong path on this one.

“I decided I have a responsibility to look him in the eye and urge him to do the right thing.”

That’s just pathetic.

Well you could always refuse to piss into a headwind…

I liked Sen. Brown’s initial stance. However, the dilemma that he and everyone else faces is that the person currently occupying the position of POTUS is Donald Trump.

You can’t treat drump like a normal POTUS though, or a normal person for that matter.

Heh. I meant I think the gesture is a positive one that sends a bigger message, even if his message to Trump is a total waste of time.

I think it just further normalizes the crazy.

Please look him in the eye and call him a racist son of a bitch.

Thank You, A Fan Who Doesn’t Live In Ohio.

Donald Trump was ‘normalized’ by winning the election. He is now in a position that no one can afford to ignore: no matter how distasteful they may find the occupant to be.

True but it is important to remind everyone including the media what a normal POTUS would do. Brown knows Trump will never change but I think this is a good call.

No one said to ignore him, but meeting up with him to try to urge him to stop being a white supremacist is a waste of breath better spent calling him out for being a white supremacist.

Senator Brown is a man of conscience -which is why he ultimately chose to meet with Trump -hoping it might make the slightest difference, though knowing it won’t. This is why I admire him. This issue is unbearably huge in the nation, something needs to be done, and he’s going to try against every odd.

Refusing to speak to trump is weak and allows the narrative be written without you. Which it certainly will be given the idiots at cnn and nyt these days.

Stand up and face the racist.

Agreed on this. There is NOTHING that Brown could say that would change Rump’s overwhelming need to unify him supporters to destroy for him. But, you’re absolutely on the money when you say it enables him.

I think an analogy to this is Rump meeting with NK’s Kim. Kim gets the satisfaction of the photo op he can parade around and be able to say that he can meet with adversaries. Then, continue doing what he was always going to do. Rump gets played and gets nothing out of it except grief

@wanderer This isn’t “facing the racist” This is feeding into the racist’s need for attention and to be able to say that he can meet with anyone because everyone wants to meet with him. And the racist continues their evil.

If by “stand up” you mean to actually call him out for being a racist to his face, then sure. But if its just to " urge him to do the right thing" then you are just making drump happy.

I think you can do both. You can meet with him, as distasteful as it is, express your views, then when he says and does nothing, blast him full throttle in the media.

But it’s a very tough call and I can actually see both sides here.

We shall see if the full throttle blasting happens or not, though I hope they will have cameras there when they meet, cause otherwise drump will lie about it.
