New lawyers don’t get to assert their own facts or law. I suspect the current lawyers argued the actual facts and the law as well as they could before losing in the Supreme Court. This effort is doomed, but nobody has the balls to tell Spanky.

Is the judge also setting up a contempt situation for Barr or whoever makes the guarantee that the change in legal teams won’t cause any delays? Because someone sitting in jail until discovery is completed to his satisfaction would certainly be motivating.

Remember the time when as a newbie senator in 2013 he lectured (my) senator Dianne Feinstein about her proposed ban on assault weapons, a cause she’s pursued since she found dead bodies in City Hall decades ago. Not surprisingly, he doesn’t remember it either.

Trump see this as a hero-making opportunity to deliver the census question that will (try to) save the Republican party after others said it couldn’t be done. This is pure narcissism. Trump doesn’t care whose career gets hurt by the process.

I hope so, but I thought that after the GWB Ashcroft/Gonzalez shenanigans with the US Attorney BS, all the Liberty U. recruits, attempts to purge the Civil Rights dept., etc., etc. Seems like that was all just a toe in the water though, compared to this.

Entirely possible the career lawyers bailed. When I speak of bad lawyers, generally I don’t mean them. I’d hate to be in the DOJ now, however, trying to defend the indefensible as a daily diet.
