SCOTUS Officially Kills Precedent that Protected Agencies from a Vengeful President — But with Special Federal Reserve Carveout

I believe that was pulled back. However, if you impact policy, you were reclassified to be more easily let go.

In other news, looks like the state fair in DC was a rousing success. Suck it, libtards!

That’s not how it works. Only Republican presidents can do this. The court will come up with some other reason not to allow firings. The Roberts court has become a joke with their rulings.

I feel so pwned.

They really know how to stick (figure) it to us.

Ummm does this mean a Supreme Court Justice can now be fired by a President?

Josh:

There’s simply no future for real democratic self-government in the United States with this corrupt Court in place.

I wonder, when Dems are elected in 2026 and 2028, and impose term limits and/or expand the court, if the Supreme Court itself will attempt to invalidate it?

Of course, the president has some role. Typically, the president can choose the agency’s head subject to congressional approval, but the president can’t just go and fire officials that he doesn’t like for whatever reason or for no reason, because the agencies that operate the U.S. government and basically run our society are supposed to be professional. They’re supposed to be following their legal mandate. They’re not supposed to be personal tools of a dictator in the White House.

Well, the court just scrapped that. Now, lawyers, people who are legal experts, can do a better job of explaining just what went down. But what I think is important to understand is not only does this give essentially dictatorial powers to the occupant of the White House, but it also makes it extremely difficult for the economy to function. It makes it extremely difficult for society to function.

We are now in a situation where continuity in the federal government is dead. Each new president can reset what the no longer independent agencies can do. Trump is getting everything he wants now, but in two years it will be gone.

The Unitary Judiciary theory

What still amazes me is that these people are destroying the law, the constitution and the country for this particular demented criminal. If he were Reagan, or Bush, or Nixon, or even Bush II they could pretend that there was an ideological component. But with this PoS? Their actions just hasten the apocalypse.

I just don’t understand.

In legal circles it is called Unitary Executive Theory, and it predates Donald Trump, and something the Federalist Society bought into a while back (conservative justices on SCOTUS are all members of the Federalist Society).

In common day parlance it is an autocratic way of saying heads we win, tails you lose.

Donald Trump has proven how hollow that theory is, but it has not changed the closed minds of the conservative SCOTUS members.

There’s no good in it; but, we don’t know how bad of a mess Donnie and JD are gonna make yet.
It may have a lot to do with what becomes possible.

I wouldn’t go with, They dish it out but can’t take it.
May I suggest: They cast everything so it serves their perceived advantage in the situation?
It seems to be the only thing that adequately explains all the contortions the GQP can put itself through.

It’s a symptom of collapse. Their rush to servility merely underscores it, but other people are steadfastly denying the reality of it.

This nation has been beaten and defeated by a common criminal from Queens, but not on his own: the sea of Little Eichmanns is vast and deep.

Another Supreme Court decision that undermines the basic structures of the Progressive Era and New Deal which allowed the United States for the better part of a century to have rising prosperity and quality of life (there were virtually no bank failures from after the banking system reforms were implemented in the 1930’s until the 1980’s, when they were downgraded and left to the financial institutions) as well as an increase in the quality of life. Now you’ll have critical agencies staffed by a bunch of Irwin Mainways.

Because some agencies are more independent than others?

None of y’all are biting on, “…now the house is white?”

Justice Alito: President over precedent.

Actually, I am sure those agencies are all equal…. just some are more equal than others.
