The SCOTUS has become skeptical of immigrant rights. This is a direct result of folks on the left voting third party and not voting for Hillary Clinton. This SCOTUS is anti-Muslim as they sanctioned a travel ban that was clearly based on racial animus. The courts fucking matter folks.

An age limitation would require a constitutional amendment. Much easier to change the makeup of the court, as those powers are already granted to Congress.

There seems to be a confusion among some commenters. This is not about conventional immigration. This is about seeking asylum, or protection from persecution in one’s native land–a right recognized by international law and custom for thousands of years, going back to the Egyptians and Greeks and Hebrews. The United States was founded by, among others, people seeking asylum from religious persecution. Apparently that’s all over now. Nice.

The Democrats MUST expand the size of the Court from 9 to at least 15 in 2021. The next step must be to double the number of Federal judges and pack them with as many young liberals as possible.

Can some law-talkin’ peeps help me out here. Isn’t the decision to grant a stay a balancing of harms? How could SCOTUS believe that the government’s delay in barring people outweighs the harm in keeping asylum seekers from asylum? In what realm is that even a contest? Or do the Justices believe that asylum seekers are a clear and immediate threat, as Faux Nooz, Trumpees, and assorted wing-nuts believe?

Nah. Mine came legally, in the 20s, on my mom’s side. On Dad’s side, I’m SAR.
When my mom’s folks came, they got nothing. But they did have to prove that they could provide for themselves, needed a guarantor that they would not become public charges and leeches on the public aide system, and needed to learn English. Which they did. No welfare queens in my family.
No. I think it actually requires the opposite.
Yes, a decision on an application for stay requires a balancing of harms. Because the majority delivered a bare-bones decision, we don’t know whether, or how, they balanced the harms.
