Schumer: Dems Made A ‘Big Mistake’ In Trying To Please GOPers In 2009-10

There is literally no point to controlling spending, any deficit reduction or austerity will go out the door as soon as there is a Republican President in office again.

This bill is bipartisan.

Wrong. Schumer has a job to do. Biden has a different job. Each plays a role, and if you think they are not coordinating, then you’re misreading this dynamic.

I’ve always wondered what exactly was his species designation. Thank you for clearing it up!

Oh, Chuckie, I hope this isn’t bravado.

It is interesting that he pointed out Susan Collins. I think he is telling her to not bring that shit around here anymore, it won’t work. She has gotten away with playing the moderate while sabotaging the Dems’ policies at nearly every turn.

This gives me hope. Stay true to this, Senator Schumer. Hopefully, Manchin remembers the lesson too.

Biden 2021 is not Obama 2009. Biden has the benefit of learning from the way Republicans treated Obama. They can’t be trusted to do the right thing. They are essentially a bunch of self centered communications specialists trying out for Talk Radio and Fox News. They are incapable and unwilling to do anything constructive for America.

“Wattled”

Mitch has met his wattle loo.

And it just took him and Dem Leadership 10 years to understand… I’d venture that the vast majority of us knew within 10 minutes.

Susan Collins is very concerned.

The judge is referring to the entire GOP Senate and Congress.

A man appointed to the U.S. State Department during the Trump administration will remain in jail while he awaits trial on charges that he took part in the deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol and assaulted police officers, a judge said on Tuesday.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui in Washington said during a court hearing that he was denying a request by Federico “Freddie” Klein, 42, for pretrial release.

The judge said Klein’s status as a government employee at the time of the Jan. 6 attack was troubling and suggested he would pose a danger to the public if released.

Faruqui said Klein “swore an oath to protect America” but instead “switched sides” and joined forces with domestic enemies during the attack on the Capitol, which left five people dead.

I remember Paul Krugman writing op-ed after op-ed, screaming almost for a much greater stimulus.
But Obama caved, still didn’t get a single fascist vote, and we had several more years of recession.

Same thing on ACA. Cave after cave to those bastards’ demands and in the end not a single one of them voted for ACA.

Fuck the Fascists. Full speed ahead.

Schumer said he has “hope” that “now that Republicans have seen” what Democrats can do without their support, “they’ll realize they ought to try to work with us.”
… … …
They won’t Chuck, they just will not work with you so give that thought a nice funeral. The Goobers are the party of cult and death… sad to say for our system of government. You cannot work compromise with a cult. Compromise is the glue that should make the system work but the goobers are all in for total opposition…
edit
Generally I try to be a tolerant guy …forgiving ya know? But the goobers as I call them now have shown multiple times over the last 4 years they’re not interested in getting stuff done for us, just themselves and for fat cat donors. Mitch McConnell is the point man and is the one who should have been defeated in the last election. He won under very very weird circumstances. Who but McConnell gets 60% of the votes in a democrat precinct? There it was: Mitch’s name was chosen near the top just under trump’s vote and down the ballot all the down ballot democrats got their votes. This was reported in medtheia and promptly ignored.

First and foremost good on Schumer.
Second if Republicans think that bringing a proposal that is half of what is in the Dems’ proposal is entry into good faith bargaining then right there it shows that they aren’t serious.
Third what was Republican’s plan? The first stimulus/relief check was good, but so much other stuff was mismanaged. The second was less than the first, but it’s like they didn’t even realize or admit at that point that things weren’t coming back like they’d hope.

Bipartisanship is good faith cooperation and negotiation not capitulation to unreasonable demands meant to torpedo the whole enterprise.

Democratic leadership is now saying aloud what we’ve known all along. Good sign. Now no backsliding.

Of course they each have different roles to play, but Schumer talks about the GR as if it was a collective “big mistake”, which it was - with Schumer out front in full capitulation behavior. He shouldn’t get a pass anymore than Comey should with his efforts in deliberately and seriously damaging HRC’s chances at the brass ring. You could make an argument saying Comey gave us Trump.

Too many politicians get away with too much shit, almost as if the past never happened.
