Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) demanded that the Justice Department investigate acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell over his undisclosed foreign consulting business in a letter on Wednesday.
He concluded the letter by adding that “any illegal activity would obviously disqualify [Grenell] from serving as Director of National Intelligence or in any other position of public trust.”
Schumer better be careful. Trump might appoint Brittany from Mrs. Bardwick’s Home-Ec class as acting head of DNI.
So, Schumer demands a probe. What happens if one doesn’t occur? I know that it’s just a word that headline writers like to use (Trump demands that SC Justices recuse themselves, for example) but it’s interesting to me that we so often see it used in situations where the person demanding really doesn’t have the power to make it happen. We know that Schumer doesn’t have the power to make this happen, and Trump has no power over the SC Justices. It’s really a ploy to create a public issue of something. I realize that you couldn’t put that in a headline, but it’s annoying just the same. (And don’t get me started on “vows” as in “Schumer vows to…” It’s pretty clear that vows, oaths, and other forms of promises mean nothing to people in DC, so it;s galling to see it as a descriptor.)
BTW, if Flynn was indicted for NOT registering as FARA, will Grenell be indicted too now that the AG is NOT the Racist-Sessions but the Criminal-Coverup-Barr?
You can actually get progressive reading glasses for under $100. That was the big bonus from cataract surgery – I was paying big bucks for my glasses but now I’m 20/20 for distance, so I can actually afford multiple pairs. Readingglasses.com is da bomb.
