Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wrote to the secretary of defense on Monday, requesting that he make the protections awarded to whistleblowers formally known to civilian and military personnel.
This probably isn’t an issue for most of the military, they know the rules and follow them…sadly, there are likely enough, especially among the political appointees, who are willing to ignore the rules in their frantic attempt to defend Trump. It’s sad to think that’s how things are today.
I think its been clever of the Democrats to give a couple days of rest in the impeachment hearing to let the bombshells sink in, one after the other, before scheduling ANOTHER hearing, which , thanks to the Whiner in the White House’s thin skin, will produce a FRESH round of bombshells. I can’t say there has been a single day where something new has n’t been revealed.

That’s not a bad move.
He should also write to the head of every other department and agency.
Sondland on Wednesday is going to be epic. First the restaurant phone call with Trump and now Pompeo or someone appears to have leaked his emails to the Wall StreetJournal, implicating Sondland further along with Perry and Mulvaney.
Dude has already corrected his testimony once. Should be a fun time. Social Studies teachers should livestream it during their classes.
Always assume there’s a reason for a deliberate and targeted letter like that. Such as maybe they’ve been contacted by someone who is saying that there’s some retaliation underway or something.
It’ll surprise you as much as it surprised me that the average American is burned out on the impeachment proceedings. It’s called news avoidance, it’s neither right nor left, but simple confusion and not enough time to take care of home and family and listen up to stuff that is arcane to begin with and deemed highly partisan by most news consumers.
If you unpack the various “reminders”, it’s really chilling that a letter like this needs to be sent. Part of me thinks the next administration is going to need a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, part of me thinks it’s going to need a bunch of seal teams.
The Watergate hearings were held nearly 50 years ago. There was no Fox news trumpeting its version of reality nor was there a left wing media telling us what the reality was. Repubs then were not the hardcore party of trumPP they are today, some of them were open to hearing the facts about the crimes rather than making bullshit excuses about the “process” and nothing about the crimes themselves.
It was a staunch republican senator named Goldwater who finally went to Nixon and said it’s time to go followed by others in quick succession including James Buckley R-NY (brother of arch conservative publisher Bill) telling him the same thing. Who’s the repub who’s going to do that today. Today’s it’s Graham saying he’s going to ignore everything and an AG who says the president can do whatever he wants.
The letter follows attacks from conservative media personalities on Vindman’s character and patriotism… Vindman is a Purple Heart recipient, who was given the designation after being wounded while serving in Iraq.
When are American vets going to get it through their skulls that Republicans HATE THE TROOPS and will ALWAYS DENIGRATE THEIR SERVICE?
It is inconceivable to me that vets voted for a draft dodger and defamer like Trump by 2-1, an overwhelming margin! This was true even after Trump smeared a Gold Star family as well as denigrated POW John McCain. What is wrong with them? Is it just the siren’s song of Trump’s ignorance and racism?
I know this will seem hyperbolic to those still reflexively fellating every flag-waver, but I always believed vets would at least stick together and speak out against those attacking purple heart recipients who bravely served their country. I was dead wrong.
