Welcome back!
In fact, a pardon requires an active admittance (and typically requires an active formal allocution) of guilt.
So if we were guilty of something we did we’d ask for absolution, and if our boss knew we’d have to use dirty deeds to get 'er done, then we should get an indulgence?
From President Ford: “Acceptance of a pardon is an admission of guilt.”
Seeking a pardon is the same.
All you have to do is say you love Jesus and send a regular (10% of your gross is recommended) tithe to:
Our Savior Jesus H Christ

Offer void where prohibited…
I’m reminded of all the SS officers getting the hell out of Dodge at the end of the war. They knew they were in trouble.
You mean we’ll find out who has a soul when this is all done because they should be the last man or women standing. However, do not be surprised to find out there is no one.
Asking For a Pardon = Consciousness of Guilt
“…Schiff’s talking about ME…but wait…I did ____________ a solid…he wouldn’t rat me out…”
OR WOULD HE?
You’re a good man Matt.
On advice of criminal defense counsel “(t)hey have all refused to comply” with the committee’s subpoenas. Fix it for Summer.
Not for me to say. I think most of the time I can furnish evidence of trying, at least.
Yes, indeed. I must confess to having a bit of a man crush on Schiff, and for the very reason you note here.
Somewhere, Twain describes a character as having “the confidence of a Christian with four aces,” and that describes Schiff perfectly.
My own admiration is for a guy whose deceptively mild-seeming appearance belies a steely determination and the intelligence to weaponize it. People like Trump who think it makes sense to call him charming things like “pencil-neck” don’t know what they’re dealing with.
In addition to being a rightwing nut job Trumpy Republican, he’s basically the one who introduced John Eastman and John Eastman’s plan to Trump. He wanted to invalidate legal Pennsylvania votes, probably including mine. He is also refusing to cooperate with the January 6th Committee.
Yeah he’s not little either and the MFWWNBN used to call him that. He’s about the same size as Colbert and Colbert isn’t little.
Stepien is a witness at tomorrow’s hearing.
The absolutely funniest thing I ever heard from Schiff was a response to O’Donnell about his opinion of Qevin McCarthy.
- His voice never changed
- Nor did his expression
- He eviscerated Q-man
The funny part was that when he began to respond to Lawrence, the cadence and timber of his voice was the same sort politicians use when they are preparing to give glowing verbal recommendations.

Perry’s spokesperson Jay Ostrich denied Cheney’s allegation, telling reporters that the claim is a “laughable, ludicrous and a thoroughly soulless lie.”
She wouldn’t have said it if she didn’t have the smoking gun Scotty!

Asking For a Pardon = Consciousness of Guilt
Does it? ( of course it does, from a moral perspective. ) But, legally? They are not the same, obviously.
