Following a failed bid by Senate Democrats to block it, President Donald Trump and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought have, once again, run roughshod over Congress’ power of the purse. Last week — just five days before the fiscal year was set to end and federal funds allocated for that year…

We all know it’s illegal and Ron Johnson is a tool. But what is the solution?

I’m not picking on this article. It’s a great piece of the puzzle, @emine

Replace the clowns.

Here’s hoping for a new Congress that actually stands up for itself and its constitutionally designated responsibilities. But that doesn’t help us for this fiscal year.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t this turd swear to “preserve, protect, and.defend the Constitution twice? And also seem to recall something about faithfully executing the law. Guess he thinks it means putting a bullet in them (figuratively, of course.) 86 47

To be fair, he thought he was swearing to defend his constitution, and he does that by letting the doctors regularly prescribe him all sorts of new medications, and he does look at quite a few of the pictures Natalie shows him. I mean, what else can he do?

They desperately did not want Clinton to have a line item veto when SIGNING legislation, but suddenly they want a line item veto for themselves POST-PASSAGE of appropriations laws that are already in full effect.

SKKKOTUS will probably give it to them. The “New Founding” is upon us and Project 2025 is the Constitution’s replacement.

Congressional lawmakers, including Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins, have said (R-ME) said the move is a “clear violation of the law.”

I understand this “clear violation of the law” caused Susie’s Concern-O-Meter® to quiver ever-so slightly.

This is a great example of executive overreach but it is meaningless unless the congress challenges Trump. That won’t happen unless Demcorats regain control of the congress.

Sooner or later (sooner if the Dems win one or both chambers in November) the Calvinball 6™ will have to make a ruling on whether to continue to uphold the legality of the ICA. This will put them in a major dilemma.

Rule for the Orange POS and they hand the next Democratic President unprecedented power to control spending no matter what legislation a GOP Congress may pass. Rule against the Convicted felon and see if He decides to ignore the ruling.

Let the games begin.

Yes, but that’s just step one. I think impeachment of Russ seems like the best route. There’s already a move afoot to send Hegseth packing, I see no reason why we can’t send Russel to the cleaners as well. If we’re not going to torpedo the orange man himself, we can at least rob him of his odious toadies.

It seems so natural for the branches of our government to spend so much time arguing the most esoteric of legal points when so many of them are run by people so stupid about the simplest things – like an annual budget, and agreement, a signature, an oath.

the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 (ICA), they maintain, allows the administration to declare congressionally approved funding rescinded if a rescissions package is sent to Congress close to the end of the fiscal year when funds are set to expire.

So nothing can effectively be done about it.

Yes, that was a good and extremely sensible provision to add to an Act intended to limit the ability of the President to mess with the money we entrust to Congress. Add a provision to let him sneak something by everyone at the last second.

“I’m the Decider” was and still is, such an ugly concept of the executive.

If decision is more akin to legislation, the executive is not the decider of much.

But here we fucking are.

All of these folks who participate in project 2025 are traitors to America.
