I’m struggling to make myself care about this side angle to the RICO case, but until we get an official response from Willis in a court filing and the evidentiary hearing is held next month in front of the judge in the RICO case, we’re stuck having to deal with this.
Anyone who has had an unpleasant experience with the family court system can instinctively cringe at the scandal-making kompromat being pedalled by Mike Roman to once again attack Fani Willis and derail the RICO case, with the co-operation of Wade’s wife. Hostile divorce and custody cases are well known for unfounded, unproven and irrelevant allegations. At least there are no minor children or custody issues in the Wade case. That would be super fun.
Legal Xitter is saying Fani Willis should have known better. Legal Xitter is saying there’s probably nothing ethically untoward, but Wade should resign because it looks bad. People who live in the public eye should expect their lives to be invaded, but honestly, folks have a right to a private life. What’s a (Black woman) who is a public figure supposed to do when she happens to be in a relationship with a person who is in the middle of a messy divorce (on no-fault grounds of irretrievable breakdown, filed before they even knew each other)? Know better?
My own experience was a drive-by, an ex whose life and relationships with his children was emotionally totalled by his ex. In the words of his lawyer, “They lie all the time in these filings. Just the way it is.”
