Rubio: Senate Intel Still Gets In-Person Election Security Briefings Despite Ratcliffe’s Order | Talking Points Memo

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) on Wednesday claimed that DNI John Ratcliffe will continue holding election security briefings with the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee, despite Ratcliffe telling Congress last week that he would halt the in-person briefings due to lawmakers allegedly leaking classified information.

Marco Rubio is a real tough guy.

Well, Li’l Marco you’d best follow through on your intentions, otherwise be reminded of this saying: “Pride Goeth Before a Fall.”

Someone should get Marco some water for the conversation he’s about to have where he’s told he won’t be getting briefings.

The whole idea that briefings will be stopped two months before the election is ludicrous and obviously corrupt…piling onto that the idea that the Republican controlled Senate can still get those briefings makes it that much more obvious what is going on. They might as well just say it’s for Republicans only and make the cover up complete.

Is Rubio even attending Senate sessions in his new term? Prior to being re-elected he had one of the worst attendance records in Congress.

Not many people know this ®

“I don’t care what the letter says. They can’t do that and they’re not going to do that, is what I’ve been told,” Rubio said.

Liddel Marco has grown a little spine now?

No. Talk is cheap (and plentiful).

Obviously. I can’t imagine anyone hearing it and not thinking what the hell - what are they hiding?

“No need to worry about Sen Ron Johnson leaking stuff from the meetings, he already knows the game plan.”

I’m sure Donnie is proud of the genius demonstrated by his deviousness and will, in time, tell us all about it, again. Maybe in another interview with Lester Holt.
ETA: Whatever it is, though, I want it stopped before the election.

Does Rubio mean that only repuglican members of the committee will continue to be briefed? I bet.

OT but damn: Trump is visiting the USS North Carolina today. You get to it by walking up a slightly inclined ramp. Today the ramp has a tent all around it. Thought that might be of interest to you news hounds.

They tented the ramp to the USS NC for his visit today so we couldn’t see him lose to yet another ramp. It’s never had a tent in the 35 years I’ve lived here. pic.twitter.com/CteWPkaaBv

Doesn’t the Navy have cranes?

Sure, that’s a way to go. Or they could have hung a cargo net over the side and he could leap off the dock and clamber up it like a monkey, seeing how healthy and all he is.

glaring question:

Will Democratic members be invited/allowed to participate?

It is a travesty that a question like that would even need to be asked.

Look. Just like they have done with many other things, they’ll brief the Rethugs on the committee while leaving Dems out of the loop.

This ain’t new. The bottom line is that in order for “certain members” to know what to bury they’ll need to know what it is they’re burying. And they will get that information. So, please move along.

Boy, it sure would be something to see him go into the tent, relative silence for a bit, then a loud yell, and here comes Trump rolling like a big mass of protoplasm and spilling out at the entrance in a heap.
I’m smiling just thinking about that. I’ll bet two people had to take the old man by each arm and help him to the top.

Rubio said that because the Senate Intelligence Committee oversees the intelligence community, “they can’t tell us they’re not coming in to talk to us. I don’t care what the letter says. They can’t do that…"
