Marco’s got a case of the love that dares not speak its name.
Yeah OK ‘Little Marco’…blame the press for the fact that you don’t have the ballz God gave a rock. You urged, incited, lied and carried Trump’s water and NOW it’s all the ‘press’.
Everyone remembers when big fatty, I mean Chris Christie, made a fool of “little Marco” by pointing out how he was merely repeating the same line over and over again.
What should have been the news was not that idiot kept repeating the same line over and over again but that the line he was repeating accused President Barack Obama and Democrats of intentionally trying to weaken and destroy America. Sounds very much like Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Rubio and all his ilk can go to hell.
OUCH !
“The Trump political appointees said they were surprised they were turned down. The White House says they shouldn’t have been.”
I like that it’s not pettiness.
Or if it is pettiness, the pettiness is dressed up in enough proper procedure that there’s plausible denial of pettiness.
From the Politico article you posted:
The Biden White House declined to speak about the issue on record. Instead, an official noted anonymously that political appointees “do not enjoy the promise of federal employment past the end of the administration in which they choose to serve.” The official blamed the fact that the Trump administration dragged its heels on a quick and orderly transition as a reason why some on his team were caught off guard by the benefits ending.
“We understand that a few Trump appointees, including a handful currently on parental leave, submitted last minute requests to remain on government payroll,” the official said. “Because these requests were received so close to Inauguration Day… there was no way to implement an exception to the rule in a way that is fair to all outgoing appointees, including many who resigned as expected without making requests for extraordinary benefits.”
In other words: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
And I love the stinger at the end:
The official added that “appointees have been advised that they have options including COBRA and the Affordable Care Act.”
Except that they should have called it “Obamacare.”
Hard to believe.We’ll see,
She got pregnant, she should take responsibility for her own choices. I don’t really want to come off as sanctimonious but gurrl, you were a political appointee. Elections have consequences, even when you just had a baby. Besides don’t conservatives admire O-Lan and her pregnancies and work ethic?
Little Marco has a sad. LOL!
Not at all. If your job ends on January 20th, your job ends. No boss is going to tell you that you can stay on payroll.
They shouldn’t have even bothered asking, keeping them on payroll while others were dropped would be a horrendous precedent to set.
Do we, and I what I really mean is someone more tech savvy, have to go dig up every tweet, or statement made on Fox about “the Squad”? And which came first the press volleying shots at “the Squad”, or reporting the shots made by Republican members of Congress, parroting the press?
Most political appointees are not covered by the benefits packages career gov’t employees get. This is spelled out in the employee handbooks that no one bothers to read.
Trump’s political appointees who got caught by surprise shouldn’t be blaming Biden. They served at Trump’s pleasure, which was their mistake.
Ignore it and it goes away? Why am I not shocked that he’d apply his approach to Covid to QAnon buffoons as well.
Another Politico turd that reads like Faux News Lite.
ETA: The fake outrage machine carries on…
A lot of people’s problems might be solved if they’d get off Twitter.
Boy, are they ever.
Perhaps putting a loon who says two recent mass school shootings were false flags on the EDUCATION COMMITTEE is giving them an ability to “influence public policy”?
The Politico article that @maximus posted implies that there is actually a procedure to be able to stay on payroll for a limited time in a situation like this.
It’s not fair in that people who work for an elected official are given an element of social safety net denied to most people, but taken on its own terms it’s humane, and it’s also hardly the only example of people close to power getting benefits of which the hoi polloi can only dream.
The issue is less that she lost her job through her boss losing an election, and more that she played along with her boss’s lethal delusion that he won, and thereby missed the window to get this benefit that she otherwise could have had.
My heart bleeds…
Womp, womp, womp. Maybe they can do some parental leave in cages, with no medical care, and shitty food.
Or maybe they can just be unemployed, and get by on UI benefits like everyone else who loses a job.
It’s a real shame that we don’t have federally mandated parental leave for all jobs. Someone should look into that.
But back to Marco Rubio: he’s like a kid who acts out so that his peers bully him. Sweetie, there are more constructive ways to get attention. You don’t have to be a butt-head.
