Roger Stone Prosecutor Details ‘Political Influence’ Behind Sentencing Fiasco | Talking Points Memo

So what have all these hearings for him been about? The appeals process?

I guess that’s over too, then.

Somewhat related, but not really. Since Trump denied firing Berman, why did he step down or not reverse his decision?

OT, but I just read the transcript of the interview with Bolton from Sunday. WOW. I learned nothing about Trump that I did not already know or expect, but it gave me some real insight into the intellectual heft of the Republican party. Per Bolton, it is the Democrats’ fault that we failed to impeach his Republican president. So I guess by extension every evil thing TRump does from now on is actually the Democrats’ fault. And Bolton’s failure to testify or alert us to the existential danger that is Trump was also the Democrats’ fault. Why, just like Trump, he takes zero responsibility.

I am so glad I didn’t watch it live.

I pity anyone who could possibly be scared of Trump. He’s contemptible, a clown, a buffoon. That’s one thing I like about the Lincoln Project folks. They consider him lower than the dirt beneath their feet. Same with Pelosi. Because he is.

Zelinsky failed to realize at the time that Trump was only joking about deviating from the sentencing guidelines.

I’m sorry, but have you seen the wraith like hologram that they call “Jared”?

Is that Berman-Jackson or Reggie Walton? Sullivan was on the Flynn case. I’m losing track.

In things like this I just don’t bother picking and choosing. They’re all pretty punchable, once you start noticing.

Good to have this all on record - before trump tries to pardon stone in the next few days… And with trump’s tax’s still pending before the Supreme Court.

It actually may deter trump, who is doubtlessly being told he is in big trouble already, and best hold off with his tax’s before the Supreme Court.

40 months in the clink. I’m confident he’ll see the inside of a jail cell. For how long is another matter.

Wait. How could Don Jr. not be at the top of your list?

This is bigger than that. This proves what we all knew -that this DoJ has abrogated it’s responsibility to the rule of law and has, instead, become an arm of the President’s whims and grievances. As such, it really calls into question all verdicts reached in any case involving Barr’s DoJ.

So what happens now? What can happen? We know Trump, Barr, and the Senate will do nothing. We know Barr will not be convicted if impeached. What does John Roberts do, if anything? If there is anything he can even do. Just another unprecedented situation in the United States of America because of Trump. Acknowledgement that we have no rule of law.

Barr: “So what? Waddyagonnadoaboutit? We have no intention of allowing our enemies to have power ever again.”

See, this is what I was afraid of, a long rackety argument about more-punchability, which is a pretty intangible thing. It’s like arguing about Ford versus Chevy, gang. They’re all very punchable. This is my crusade, to take that message out to the world.

Dems asserted they needed to narrow the scope of their inquiry, subpoenas, court filings, testimony, etc because more broad measures would tie up the impeachment in the courts. So, all these many months later, had they persevered with expanded efforts, would we now be in a better position to impeach Trump? How many more GOP Senators up for reelection would feel increasingly threatened for standing with Trump, now that he’s trapped in the mire of a bad economy, racial strife and a deadly pandemic? All situations he’s badly botched. Imagine the fruits of a macro impeachment push layered on top of all his other problems.

I think Bolton has a point with some merit.
