My signature looks worlds apart from when I first registered to vote at my current address 30 years ago, and I’ve never had a problem.
Ah yes, I remember well when SCOTUS directed Mike Pence to count the fake electors only, and that’s how we ended up with United States President for Life Donald J. Trump. And so now they’re vacating a 3rd Circuit opinion with the nefarious excuse of “mootness” so Republicans can invalidate all of Pennsylvania’s mail-in ballots and then Doug Mastriano will eliminate elections entirely and Republicans win everything for always and all time. Very sneaky, SCOTUS!
We now sign in electronically. So yeah my signature doesn’t match anything I’ve signed in the past, and the past could be the 10 minutes between filling out checks to pay bills.
“The truth is out there…way way way the fuck out there.”
In order to prevent election disruption, we will disrupt it some more.
This immediately pre-election chaos was inevitable ever since the Supreme Court handed down the order to nullify the appellate court decision just a few weeks before the election — a decision seemingly at odds with conservative justices’ insistence on upholding the Purcell principle and resisting interfering with election laws close to when voting begins for other cases in which they’ve struck down voter protections.
And the Beer Hall Putsch also failed.
Yes, it certainly is possible. And what the end game of the fascist Theocrazy is pretty much.
Clarence un-mooted it in his mind.
They know they can’t win fairly, so they cheat and attempt to suppress votes for Democrats. It’s disgusting, it’s undemocratic (note the small d) and it smacks of fascism. Vote in November as though your country depended on it. Vote blue.
They definitely had a role in 2000. Water under the bridge, I know.
My wife and I have voted by mail in AZ for over 20 years now, but I am starting to get a little nervous because we haven’t received our ballots yet. The AZ leg cut down the time lines and now you need to turn around the ballot quickly since postmarks now mean nothing - your ballot has to arrive by 7 pm on election day or it will not be counted, even if the postmark shows you mailed it 4 days early. According to records, mine was mailed out on 10/12 but still has not arrived. Gives you an idea of how much our post office prioritizes these ballots.
Should I be nervous? Probably not. But if you pay attention to the nutcases throughout AZ right now, hard not to feel some trepidation about how the election is going to be carried out.
Bush was already winning Florida. SCOTUS just let him continue to win it. Compare and contrast with all the wild theories being bandied about for how SCOTUS can and totally will hand all future elections to the GOP. Notwithstanding that they had multiple opportunities to do Trump’s bidding two years ago and they punted on each and every attempt.
I voted early today. I took the ballot to our recorder’s office myself as i do not trust the PO since mail hasta go from Tucson to phoenix to get sorted (240 mile round trip) and then back just to get from our house to the recorder’s office (2miles max). Folks at the office witnessed me dating and signing the envelope.
I’m not eligible to vote by mail here in Texas, but early in-person voting starts one week from today.
As of last week, about 17.7 million people were registered to vote in Texas. That will go up a bit as they process registrations submitted close to the Oct. 11 deadline. It’s about 800,000 more Texas voters, which is bigger than Trump’s margin of victory in 2020.
in 2020, there were 16.9 million registered voters, so it’s already up 5% over the very high turnout (for Texas) 2020 election in just the past two years. In 2018, it was 15.8 million. Only 15.1 million in 2016. Sooner or later, this state is going to flip.
I “flipped” my lid when Chiselin’ Trump won in 2016.
I haven’t received my Colorado ballot either, though I made sure to update my voter registration after I moved.
I vote in CA (Santa Clara Co) where we’ve had automatic mail in ballots for years. And drop boxes as well. Nobody is trying to suppress votes. But a few years ago (before DeJoy), I USPS mailed my ballot, along with my husband’s. On time! His arrived & was counted. Mine arrived over a week late, w/o postmark. I talked to the registrar. She said the post office often/usually fails to postmark ballots that they deliver. She recommended using a drop box instead.
So if you have a way to avoid USPS, do that!
Informative post. The old envelope screamed for a box around the date and “required” notations. I always was pissed that I had to sign my name outside the envelope for ID thieves to see, but stopped absentee voting in PA since they always screwed it up by not mailing me or a family member a ballot.
I suppose R’s will now challenge dates that are not in proper format, such as 11/4/22 instead of 11/04/2022. Wait for it.
