These people – from any political party – should be confronted with the facts as often as possible, not in the expectation that they will answer with only truth, but just as a means of keeping on the pressure – on the theory that discomfort can make their lying less smooth, which would be a public good.

Eh, party staff are party staff. Asking about if they think they’re losing and treating the response as newsworthy is just plain pointless. Like asking a team coach in public before a match if he thinks his team will lose. No coach in their right mind would answer straight.

Yeah, although it’s practically political spin malpractice as by such standards the whole Trump operation is outright treason (which some of it may be, but you’d expect them to avoid own-goal type arguments… although in writing that I realize most of Trump’s campaign has been scoring own goals this year).

I’m not sure why anyone is taking Crazy Uncle Don’s judgement on the race for the Senate as useful when he also thinks the Repubs will take the House.
I really haven’t seen too many scenarios where he was correct about much of anything. Anyone have any examples where I’d want to go along with his choices?
Dems need to push hard regardless of what these folks think. Finish the deal.

To be honest though - if you’re trying to convince Republican donors to keep throwing cash in your direction, you don’t say “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” Instead, you pitch the idea that you’re doomed without a very generous infusion of cash.
It’s probably more telling that trump said there are some Senators he wouldn’t mind seeing go - a way to spin losing Republican seats in the Senate as not being all that bad…

Yeah - it’s like being a team coach. Dem Party coach would say the same thing. If you’re the Coach you’re not doing your team any good if you go out and say “we’re in for an ass whoopin, we’re losing big on this one.” Maybe for the planners but not out loud to the public!
Well your comment went on about holding feet to the fire etc. - and if it were about policy or substance fine - but about “is your team about to get thumped”? Come on… it’s pretty silly. Maybe slightly entertaining in a kind of “laugh at the kid stuck in the embarrassing situ way” but not really otherwise useful.
