Contrarily, having the Arizona Cardinals games on during football season helps me to overcome my sleep deprivation.
OFF-TOPIC: The Strong Biden Economy
“Why can’t we find evidence of [economic] pessimism in anything other that public opinion polls? Every non-poll based indicator of confidence suggests folks are optimistic.”
Good question.
ON-TOPIC: Conservative Perversion
The movie’s surprise success had as much to do with its subject matter – child trafficking, which is catnip for right-wing conspiracists
Nipping at it a bit too lasciviously, in my opinion.
If you can stomach this imbecile for as long as it takes to get through this clip, I applaud you. But I also ask that you count the stupid ignorant things he says, and the laughs he gets. I promise you you’re looking at something like 50 - 1. This is how stupid “conservative comedy” is. It’s not funny. It’s just one angry asshole belching his rage at people.
Next up, a history channel by conservative entertainment where they say that Africans learned valuable market skills (after being brought to the Americas in chains), that the holocaust never happened (never mind millions of Jews dead) and Samuel Alito is recognized as the greatest jurist ever.
Rinse and repeat, but never clean.
I expect the Texas Supreme Court will get around to hearing the case right after she gives birth to her dead fetus or dies trying.
Third-bluest red state in the nation, baby. SCOTX just finds itself unable to decline the invitation to light itself on fire, which is hugely helpful to the larger cause. Let’s flip this Electoral College bitch and forever end the presidential ambitions of the GOP.
And Kate Cox is a goddamn superhero who should go get the treatment she needs in New Mexico and then hold a press conference on SCOTX’s front porch.
Like Disney, but without plans to build a Fascist Utopia in the middle of a drained swamp.
If you think I’m taking it too far, consider Uncle Walt’s original concept for Epcot (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) in his own words: Epcot, according to Disney, “will always be a showcase to the world for the ingenuity and imagination of American free enterprise.” It was intended as “a planned, controlled community, a showcase for American industry,” with “no slum areas because we won’t let them develop.” Disney was adamant that no one would own their homes, and “therefore no voting control.” Above all else, every resident at Epcot must work as a cog in the machine of the corporation – “There will be no retirees; everyone must be employed.” (1) Living in a radial city that expanded outward, residents would be subject to constant surveillance and could have their homes regularly entered without their consent by authorities. Epcot was Disney’s utopia – a perfectly fascist city, free from unions, privacy, democracy, and social security. When you could no longer work, Epcot would discard you to keep the corporation efficient.
A little Google-fu turned this up:
As for the name, Boreing said “Bentkey” comes from the bent key he’s worn around his neck every day for the last 28 years.
“It’s the key to a small theater in a town called Post Texas, where I grew up doing plays and where I kind of discovered who I was and what I wanted to do in life,” Boreing said. “The full story of that is probably not one for this conversation.”
In normal marketing terms it’s a terrible name for a kid’s media channel, or any channel for that matter, due to the association with something that doesn’t work. Or the slang “get bent” which basically means f*ck off. But I guess it’s getting harder every day to find a unique name for something.
She’s probably headed to New Mexico right now. She tried to do it the state’s way but they weren’t even going to play by their own rules.
As long as Paxton is AG for that state, it’s all performative BS in the court system. Everything IS his business.
Thnx for finding the info. I originally thought it was a work around for Bentley.

Israeli military issues fresh appeal for civilians to leave areas of Khan Younis, where fighting rages
From CNN’s Tim Lister
… … … .
I assume the IDF is attempting to blanket call Palestinians on their cell phones. But w/o electricity to power them up what then? Bullhorn from a helicopter?
I may be out of step here, but in principle I don’t have a problem with this effort to provide a right-wing entertainment network. Of course, I object to hate speech, etc., no matter where it occurs. But not all right-wing content is hate speech.
This might succeed in a modest way compared to the supposedly “woke” outlets it attempts to counterbalance. And if it does, it provides a counterargument to those who complain that the media is monopolized by the left. Namely, “There’s no monopoly on entertainment – this is just the free market you claim to love so much operating as it should.”
That counterargument won’t fly with the serious right-wingers … they will always claim that they are being victimized in one way or another. But it would permit the response, “There are media outlets that cater to your politics … most people just don’t like them.”
Sounds like a worker’s paradise.
I have relatives in Texas. It seems to me that if Mr Paxton continues to insert himself into the intimate life of couples in this fashion an enraged family member may decide he needs to go through some things. Just sayin’… It is Texas after all.
IDF is on a fools errand in Gaza. Hamas is just a symptom. As long as Palestinians have popular support in the Arab world and the pump jacks keep spewing petrodollars in the Middle East, this conflict will continue.
If that super hero mom has any complications then I think AG Paxton ought to foot her medical bills. And btw, how is it that Texas is all that blue? I would not call Arizona blue. Our legislature has been GOP dominated since 1969.
To add to this, I laughed out loud at the name, because “Bent” in British slang means “Gay”. These people are truly maroons…
So far, about a quarter of the posts in this media topic are on Texas abortion rights and Gaza.
Why?
None of those pesky unions taking your hard-earned wages for dues, none of the worry of owning your own home, not to mention no brown people or Jews. Uncle Walt would take care of you in return for working until the day you die. Who could ask for more?
Today’s anti-woke crowd should celebrate Disney instead of trying to compete against it.
ETA: One of the great ironies is the deep animosity between fascism and communism (in their strict economic definitions), when they are basically the same system with a different ownership structure. EPCOT is a commune with the means of production owned by the corporation instead of the people.
