ICE’s Round-the-Clock Digital Dragnet About a month ago, it emerged from upstate New York that DHS was targeting online critics of ICE by trying to force them to sign a heretofore unheard of “Warning Notice” admitting that their criticisms were unlawful. Now the WSJ reports that those cases are just the tip of the iceberg…
Frist! ¡Esta milagro!
BTW When does ICE start going door-to-door?
Boy, is that ever rich!
The WSJ reports that those cases are just the tip of the iceberg of a larger DHS surveillance program targeting social media users nationwide. As with the previously reported cases, the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility is taking the lead — a dramatic departure from its previous role as internal affairs bureau investigating wrongdoing by ICE agents.
Well, I guess they had to find something for those guys to do now that upholding the law and maintaining recognized standards of conduct is no longer in DHS’ purview.
“U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro… has also moved to dismiss three other similar cases related to the peeling liner from what she now admits was a “hasty and botched” renovation job.”
What’s up with Pirro? Why doesn’t she just press ahead and let the courts smack her down? Afraid of losing her law license? It’s hard to believe that Trump won’t give her the thumb as soon as he hears about these three additional cases.
She’s beholden to TCF.
ICE spending on surveillance technology and consultants
That’s our tax dollars to pay people to figure out how to skirt the law and arrest or threaten law-abiding citizens.
How much are you spending on consultants to keep you informed of changes to the law?
Jeanine Pirro Is not a complete idiot. She won’t just get smacked down in court, but will look like a fool when the defense shows how completely fucked the reflecting pool repair was, as will her boss. And that will be the one sin she will never recover from.
Republicans warning that communists are taking over the Democratic Party might first ask why their own administration is so eager to have the government acquire pieces of private companies.
That’s an easy one! Under Republicans, the government is a “business,” and this is just good business. Under Democrats, the government is evil.
Your neighborhood is scheduled for August 13th.
One of Rúa’s proposals is a law requiring municipalities to allocate dedicated budgets for repairing potholes. It would be named after his father, Darío Rúa, who was 85 when he fell on a potholed street and died in 2024.

- “The notice for OPR’s new threat initiative calls for the monitoring of nearly 20 social sites, including Reddit, Discord, Snapchat and LinkedIn, and the use of public documents such as DMV records and police reports to identify and map key relationships of users who have been flagged as a ‘threat originator.'”
Are they looking for the contours of a “massive left wing conspiracy” here?
The potential for abuse is nigh boundless.
It seems a natural outgrowth of a mind set that prioritizes the work of what I believe Krugman called “the confidence fairy.”
In the Hive? We are the epitome of Brunchlord stodginess and conventionality, especially @sniffit and me.
