Speaking to a crowd of supporters in central Florida in August, U.S. Rep. I wish Dems could find a way to thread this needle without supporting bans. Trans women and girls aren’t boys, period. Also nobody seems worried about trans men competing–I wonder why? (/s)

GQP candidate - “They’ll let men in your daughter’s locker room!”
Dem candidate - “According to state law since 20XX, that’s not allowed. Someone who is running for office really should learn these things before opening their mouth.”

They need not say whether they do or don’t support it while running. If asked, pull the old redirect - “Shouldn’t you be asking my opponent why they don’t know this?”

Republicans scaremonger about trans kids in the morning then pardon convicted sex offenders in the afternoon. Trans children aren’t the reason it’s becoming prohibitively expensive for school districts to run late buses for students with afterschool activities. Trans children aren’t the reason public bathrooms are being closed to balance state and local budgets. Trans children aren’t the reason the Oval Office has been a hangout spot for misogynists and creeps for the past 20 months.

If I had a dollar for every trans kid in America playing on girls’ teams, I couldn’t fill my tank with Diesel.

What I find so weird is that I had co gym classes up to Jr High. I yes there were girls that could beat boys in kickball and other athletic games.
And damn it! We’re talking about a handful athletes. This is such a much ado about nothing.

You might not even be able to buy a Hamburger and Fries…

They know they can’t win fairly, so they lie. Q.E.D.

i am hoping we are going to be surprised in Florida. Donald is a terrible candidate and Floridians are looking for something new.

I am not really in love with Jolly but retreads seem to be the Florida Democratic party way.

IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS!

Or as the article puts it:

“Republican politicians are banking on the fact that the majority of Americans may not know that they know a trans person, or may not know anything about what it means to be trans,” said Zein Murib, an associate professor of political science at Fordham University. “They have an opportunity to set the agenda, or at the very least exploit that lack of knowledge about trans people.”

Trans people make up less than 1% of all Americans. Trans people wanting to compete in girls high school sports make up about 1% of all trans people.

While it is true that if you had a dollar for every trans person playing on a girls team you would not have enough to fill your tank with Diesel, it is true that if you had a dollar for everyone who lost their healthcare thanks to Trump and Republicans you would be a millionaire many times over.

Republican issues are really political tactics. Issues that affect less than 1% of 1% are not really valid for a mass political process. This makes them attractive to the hard right. Talking points for campaigns and contributions, useful for distraction from statistically significant issues.

They’ve got that confused. It’s the GOP perverts like Trump that like to go into the girls locker rooms.

Much of the rest of the world looks askance at Americans’ sex phobias.

the most valuable thing in any civilization is the younger kids, and of those, the young women more so, because girls are more valuable than boys - one man can have 1000 children; a woman can only have a relative few. The ones who define what ‘young woman’ is - is really the arbiter of much of society. So this debate gets outsized importance.

I’m going to be an outier here and say, this is a wrong-headed cause for the Democrats, and it shows that we are super-nice and generous, and well-intentioned towards trans folks, but we lack boundaries. I just don’t think you can have a penis and be on those women’s teams. You - can’t - have - one. No Y-Chromosome.

Or you can, and then a vast #'s of people think that rule is garbage, and everybody fights about it forever. Even if it only effects 1% of the population: if a very large % people think the rule is convoluted BS - it’s not good, and the Democrats as a party represent another 25+ very important issues and causes. They should not get preoccupied with this one.

the mediocrity and sheer stupidity of GOP elected officials and candiates is really something to behold
